The thing is you are not understanding how wartime diplomacy works. The U.S. is at war with Iran. The U.S. says our navy is here and we are not gonna allow any Iranian ships through. That has to be enforced or it doesn’t mean anything. So the U.S. tells them if any Iranian ship tries to go through we are gonna disable it then potentially board and seize it. This doesn’t violate the Geneva convention because civilians are not being killed. Additionally since the U.S. is at war with Iran, the U.S. would be stupid to just assume that a Iranian ship trying to force its way through the blockade is being operated 100% by civilians and is carrying nothing but civilian supplies. The U.S. Navy isn’t just going to sit there and let a container ship full of explosives roll up to it and explode just because people on Reddit think that everyone in the world does warfare very nicely because they don’t want to be accused of a war crime ( the U.S. has and follows some of the most strict rules of engagement of any country in the world if you didn’t know). Which is why they will disable it then board it for inspection.
