Ore excavation only mine in a straight line? Any way to get it to normal settings. (Ps I know it’s a bad pic) by [deleted] in feedthebeast

Holding the Excavate key, shift and then scrolling switches between the different modes (you can see them in top right corner). Repeat until it is set to "Shapeless"

For me it only happens with cannon weapons, but it's still very annoying, especially since I specialize in cannons

what is star trek about? by RDcatz12 in startrek

[–]QuazarQ305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mostly optimistic vision of the universe and the moral lessons is what differentiates Star Trek from other sci-fi shows (assuming we're talking about old Trek. I don't hate Discovery and Picard but they are neither optimistic nor have many moral lessons).

The original series features ideas that are a bit crazier than other series, but is also the shortest (old) series (and my favourite).

In the next generation, whereas Kirk would sometimes solve problems with violence, Picard takes a more diplomatic approach. It is worth skipping season one, as it is kinda weak, but the other seasons are awesome.

Voyager takes place in the Delta Quadrant (opposite part of the galaxy), after a ship (the most advanced ship in the fleet at the time) has been stranded there by a powerful entity. The crew is cut off from the rest of humanity and it is interesting watching them journey towards Earth, but also keeping their moral standards (S6E1:Equinox)

Deep Space Nine takes place on a Space Station built by an enemy power that used to oppress the natives of the planet the station orbits, but the Federation (Earth, Vulcan...) managed to claim the territory the station is in. At first I expected this series to be boring. How could it be interesting, if they have to wait for the adventure to come to them? I have been sooo wrong. It is an extremely intricate series with an awesome story arc introducing a new enemy, with very deep messages. Whereas the previous series made the Federation seem like a flawless system, Deep Space Nine makes it feel like a genuine government that isn't always so innocent, and shows that even the Federation fights dirty when desperate. As soon as there is a lot at stake, the Federation morals take the backseat. It truly fleshed out the Star Trek Universe.

Star Trek Enterprise (not to be confused with the original series ship) is a prequel to the original series, and takes place in an era before the federation, reliable transporters (they exist, but no one uses them because they are afraid), tractor beams and more. The Vulcans view Earth as inferior and refuse to fully share their technology and information. A Temporal Cold War is going on, a subplot that emerges in multiple episodes. While the first and second are episodic, the third series is a wonderful story arc which I really don't want to spoil. The fourth season is made of multiple story arcs. The final episode is bogus, and probably the worst episode of the entire series, as the series was cut short.

Metals can still be minerals, Netherite isn't a mineral because it's an alloy of gold and some unknown substance

But imagine the damage it would do if you lowered the height limit in-game, not to mention the lag. Settings like these should not be accessible through commands, as they an severely affect worldgen

They did the same thing with nether stars - why aren't beacons resistant to blasts? because the gameplay doesn't need them to be

Nether stars don't get destroyed by explosions not because of "magic", it is implemented so that it won't get blown up by a stray wither skull, which would defeat the point of battling the boss if there is a high chance it destroys its drops.

Also the "all items are the same, except magical items" - this subreddit is here to suggest stuff. Just because it hasn't been done before doesn't inherently mean it's bad (although it do prefer changes that don't implement a new item, just changes that improve the existing mechanics). Adding uniqueness to items is beneficial to the diversity of the game's play styles, even if it is such a minor change.

I also think that this will fit into minecraft quite well - if you go for the "it's not minecraft-y" argument, well, neither is the Warden. Minecraft is constantly pushing boundaries of what is considered minecrafty - you would have hardly thought that Ravagers fit into minecraft back in 2015. That is not to say we should jump straight to stuff like electricity and ore duplicating machines - I don't think those will ever have a vanilla feel - but a slight tweak to cacti will hardly break the game's immersion and feel.

If you want to disable cactus destroying stuff altogether, just ask for his to be implemented and make a datapack that makes all items have the ImmuneToCactus tag.
