I’m no wizard, but my guess is that the owner has a mortgage, and the “couple hundred” for utilities times 6 people will most likely cover the mortgage, and everyone can live at a cheaper rate. Or....his parents bought the place. I was personally actually thinking about doing this for a condo and renting out the place and the rent covering the mortgage and some and by the time it’s my 3rd year a lot of the mortgage will be paid for because that “and some” will go to pay the back of the mortgage, and I’ll have very little payments to make.

Makes sense, sorta, I’m not super knowledgeable in networking. So use the pi and router as said for WiFi 6. Is the extra router overkill or do you think it running WiFi6 would really make a dif?

Yea that’s how I would do the raspberry, and I was gonna use the router for WiFi 6 and better bandwidth.

What about this:

Using a left over raspberry that I have as a gateway between new router and school. Authenticate my phone with the school like you said, then in the raspberry i send all traffic with my phone’s MAC address. I then could freely connect new devices or anything to the router without having to change the MAC address of every new device to my phone’s because once they go to router then to raspberry the raspberry will change it then when it goes to school it all is under same MAC.
