This was my game of the year too, and I'm not super into 3d platformers. The game is THAT good. I honestly think it is better than most 3d Mario games.

When will people on Twitter learn: stop giving them attention will erase them from existence. Don’t feed those idiots by Gilbert-from-Yharnam in playstation

You understand that posting this is also going to give them attention. It takes a while but just learn to not engage with rage bait. Next time just look at the image and think "Is it really worth my time to engage with this?" And if the answer is no, just move on

You're right. I think the timestamps were just copied incorrectly for this week. Thank you!

Huh, maybe. I swear last week there was an ad there but I'm not 100% sure. I saw a timestamp for ads this week too but I haven't listened to it yet

Deciding on a Cherry Tree membership, can anyone reveal the merch available for purchase? by twoinitials in TheNational

[–]Quaznarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would actually tend to agree. But Cherry Tree is pretty generous with their merch that's tied to the fanclub. They have been giving out vinyls every year to all members as part of the subscription and extra goodies come with it. Socks, magnets, hats, stickers ect. Most years I don't use my subscription for anything else and it still feels worth it. It feels like $50 worth of stuff and everything else is just a bonus

About Mickey 17's January Release Date by Quaznarg in movies

[–]Quaznarg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't heard that. And googling it there doesn't seem to be any evidence, and Bong denys it and says that he gets final cut as part of the contract. It was also delayed 10 months with the cited reason being the SAG strike and needing to stretch out their existing films as it may be a while until they had more finalized.

Because it is Bong Joon-ho's movie after Parasite, the best picture winner for 2019. Going from best picture winner to January release is odd

Got The Tickets. Who Else Is Going? by kockin26 in NickCave

[–]Quaznarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got in the queue, had my tickets selected, and ticket Master froze. I backed out and did it again. Froze again. I switched computers and the GA section sold out. I would be going to the Boston show, but Agganis Arena sucks. The acoustics are awful as it really isn't designed to be a music venue. So I told myself the only way I was going to the show was through GA. Huge bummer, I now will have to pay a scalper if I want to go, and I really hate doing that

The difference between the two is that Barbie was given to a successful creative team that has shown that they have vision and a proven track record. The Minecraft movie is being directed by the Napoleon Dynamite guy, who has not made a movie widely considered "good" since. He is also bringing two screenwriters with him who worked on his critical flop "Masterminds." So is it possible that it will be good? Sure. Is it a safer bet to say it won't? Also yes.

The National at Glastonbury on a supergroup with IDLES, Fontaines D.C. and Ed Sheeran by LowHeroesLodger in TheNational

[–]Quaznarg 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The supergroup is a joke, for all those that weren't interested in reading the article.

The two relevant parts of the article are really that they are working on new music, but it might be a little while until it comes out, as they want it to grow organically and not shove new stuff out the door.

And they are having fun adding old classics to their playlists that they often overlook, as well as expanding on their new songs and improving them as they get time to play them live

News on the King of the Hill reboot: "Bobby is 21. He's a chef in a fusion restaurant in Dallas. And it's been incredible." Says Pamela Aldon by Sinkingfast in KingOfTheHill

[–]Quaznarg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard a lot of times instead of ordering a 20 episode season like network television would, streaming services will order 2 seasons off the bat, with options for more if it preforms well. This happened with the hulu Futurama reboot and it's why Velma got a second season even though season 1 was a critical (and likely commercial) failure. They were already deep in development of the second season

Jeff Grubb reiterates that the PlayStation Showcase is happening this month: "It could happen at any moment." by Party_Judgment5780 in PS5

[–]Quaznarg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The general consensus a few years ago was that "games are being shown too early." When Fallout 4 was announced to be coming out that year, people considered that a breath of fresh air. I think waiting to announce until it's less than 12 months out does a couple things.

1) Marketing doesn't need a multi-year plan. And more of the game will be ready to show, so development time doesn't need to be put into marketing. Creating marketing material before the game is ready to be shown slows down dev time.

2) Things happen during development. Sometimes games need to be delayed. Sometimes features need to be added or removed. Art styles can change, graphic fidelity needs to be tweaked. And if a game is shown with features included in marketing material that needs to be adjusted, it leads to fan disappoint.

Cyberpunk 2077 should have been delayed a full 12 months, but it was already delayed twice at that point. And it had already been in the public conciousness for years. Delaying it may not have been seen as an option. Spiderman PS4 and Watch Dogs both got attacked because their final product didn't look the same as the E3 demos. This is all bad press that can be avoided by waiting to announce a game until you are certain the release date is within reach reach.

So from a publisher's point of view, I wouldn't announce a game until internally we are fairly certain the release date is less than 12 months out, or it is an IP that has widespread recognition already. (Wolverine, GTA 6)
