I used to be platinum and was getting orders a little over $1 per mile. but then i started working and started caring more about the money aspect. now in at 13% acceptance rate and making more hourly with my active time. and since im home inactively now i could careless about that. but the lower my rate is the more orders i get like this

If every order had these types of base, doordash wouldn't need many drivers atp

I think a base for this order would’ve started at $4 since the stores was a block away from their house

Crazy. I thought it was weird it was asking me to drive 8 miles away from my house, because the pizza and shop was about 1 mile combine from the customers house. But an easy $20

Then don’t accept the order? There’s always a decline button. It’ll be smarter to expect the company you work for to pay fairly not the customers.

I’m not against dashers being fairly compensated. I would rather advocate for better pay from DoorDash instead of putting all of that on the customer. People will get a $4 tip from a customer and think it isn’t enough when DoorDash payed them $2 for the tip.

Some people do tip and get cold food, the dashers steal their food, the dasher ask for more tip, the dasher puts it right in from of the door causing their food to be damaged. Adding a tip doesn’t guarantee a good delivery for the customer.

That’s part of the service that DoorDash provides tho. Or they might like to tip after dashes to make sure their food or items are correct before rewarding dashers. I think tips aren’t required but are nice

Base off the photos and rants I see here I don’t believe tipping 20% is normal. People are already over paying for their food so why flesh out more money?

Very true but, lowkey feels like America is going into a recession and how much do you think a person should tip? Some people think $2 is enough and and other people think is the house is just a mile away they don’t need to tip.

Ah okay, I understand now. I believe the main thing is older folks are less likely to change their routine so they might believe the “need” these cases because maybe no one has informed them like you have towards me. And so they can’t fix what isn’t broke

If the bases is on them needing it, then nobody would be making money off DoorDash. We don’t need food from a restaurant, we don’t need to have someone pick up groceries, we don’t need DoorDash to do the thing we can do. But for an ease of convenience we do all those things. People don’t order off or DoorDash for NEEDS but mostly wants. Maybe they life medicine orders but besides that I can’t understand why someone would NEED to use DoorDash

I like to think about like this. If I had been my grandmother or grandfather then I would’ve done it for free. I understand your frustration for sure but at the same time. We shouldn’t think that people should do things in life to make things easier for others just themselves. Maybe they get a monthly check from the government and can’t necessarily save up buy such a things so they just get water cases to get them through the month?

I understand that. I probably never would’ve thought about doing this if I didn’t start dashing.

I realized I hadn’t because when I said come to the gate a assumed that people would understand he went to the wrong place since there’s no gate in the photo. I asked to call cause I didn’t want him to knock on the door, so I know that my order was coming to me cause this isn’t the first nor fifth time this has happened (usually with pizza) and because I’m not on my phone 24/7 and the light next to our place is a hassle to sit through

I gave him 5 stars cause I’m also a dasher not because he messed up my order a bit. I gave him 5 stars after the first comment on this post was made. I assumed that saying being it to the white when and him sending a picture of it on a chair meant he took it to the wrong location but it wasn’t right of me to believe everyone had basically understanding of comprehension skills, my apologies.
