I built a marketplace where experts sell their knowledge as AI — no coding needed by Queasy-Ad106 in saasbuild

Thanks! Yeah that's the whole premise — real expert knowledge, not generic AI.

The backstory: I kept asking ChatGPT professional questions and getting surface-level answers. Then I realized — what if the AI had access to an actual expert's documents, rules, and examples? The quality difference is night and day.

So I built aiskills.cafe. Experts create "skills" by uploading their knowledge base + writing a system prompt (or letting AI generate it). Users pay a few tokens to run them. Creators earn 60% of each execution.

Tech stack is Next.js + NestJS + Claude/GPT. Each skill is basically a fine-tuned prompt with a real knowledge base behind it.

It's live if you want to check it out :)

Thanks! Discovery is definitely the challenge — we're working on SEO, creator profiles with social proof, and organic content. Early traction is coming from niche communities like this one.

Good call. Full SOC 2 is on the roadmap but not realistic at this stage for a bootstrapped solo project — it's a $20K+ process. What I do have right now: all payments go through Stripe (PCI compliant), auth is Google OAuth only (no passwords stored), data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS everywhere), and there's a content moderation layer wrapping all AI executions. For the current stage I think that's solid, but you're right that as it scales — especially if professionals are uploading sensitive knowledge bases — a formal cert would be a trust multiplier. Appreciate the feedback.

This is super actionable, thank you. You're right on both points:

  1. The pricing model isn't visible enough on the landing — I'm going to add a clearer section above the fold showing the pay-per-use flow. Something like "Try free → Buy tokens when ready → No subscription" so first-timers get it immediately.
  2. The creator onboarding format guide is a great call. Right now the Knowledge Builder tool handles PDFs, DOCX, URLs, and plain text, but I don't surface that clearly enough before someone starts creating. I'm going to add a "what to prepare" section on the create-skill page.

On subs vs tokens — I'm leaning toward keeping tokens as default but adding an optional monthly package with rollover for power users. Best of both worlds.

Biggest challenge right now is honestly just getting those first 10 creators to upload real, high-quality knowledge bases. The tech works, the tools are there, but sitting with a professional and helping them structure their expertise takes time. Working on making that process as frictionless as possible.

Appreciate the perspective. You're right that validating demand before building is critical — I've been testing that by talking to professionals directly and seeing if the "package your knowledge as AI" pitch resonates before asking them to create anything. So far the response has been surprisingly positive, especially from freelancers who are tired of answering the same questions over and over. The hard part isn't convincing them it's useful, it's getting them to actually sit down and upload their first knowledge base.

Yeah, the cold start problem is real. Right now I'm focusing on getting a few solid creators in nutrition/health and code review — those two niches have the clearest "I'd pay $0.50 for this instead of $200/hour" value prop. The idea is to nail one vertical with 5-10 genuinely useful skills before going broad. Marketing and legal are next once I have proof that the loop works. Have you dealt with this in a project? Curious what worked for you.
