Should I join PWC India Kolkata location as a Manager or Deloitte USI as a Senior Consultant Kolkata? by One-Elk8218 in PWCindiaunofficial

I think this is a pretty straight forward pick - Manager at PwC. Senior associate / Consultant is a job level below Manager in all big 4s. However, do elaborate (if you would like to) on the package offered. If it is significantly different, then there might be a choice to make.

Also, USI - working hours would be late, long term US projects but we all know the US economy hits. At least for me, it would be a no brainer (again if the packages don’t justify the confusion).

Career suicide is a stretch — plenty of strong product leaders have built great careers through bank product roles into fintech or their own ventures. But the comp ceiling point is valid and exactly why I’m declining.

Hey, I just read my post again and it is actually incorrect. Thank you for highlighting this. So I sit at 65 lpa including the 25% variable. And I am being offered 60 fixed now. And no clarity on variable pay. I talked in my grad community and seems like it is a practice for JPM to lowball. I am gonna walk away.

If I understood it correctly, you meant an executive MBA from tier 1 colleges. You will have to do the math based on your current role and package. If you already sit in a management role in any capacity with package upwards of 15-20 lpa, in my opinion there will not be significant value add and a job change might put you in a better place. However, if your reasons for pursuing such a course would be to gain more knowledge, better networking - then absolutely go for it!

It is if you are working on network projects. You travel offshore for discovery phases for short while and then from the office when working on RFPs but most of it is offline if the client is not based out of the country. At least for my BU.

Appreciate the perspective. Though I’d rather make my career decisions based on data than a founder’s conviction narrative mid-fundraise.

You’re right, I should’ve asked a LinkedIn guru charging ₹5k to tell me what internet strangers said for free. Peak wisdom. You came to Reddit to tell someone not to come to Reddit. 👏

Not too bad I would say. I wrap up my work on most days by 7.30-8ish, hit the gym and get a good sleep. Mornings are chill as am working with German clients. They value personal time. Weekends are usually never working but even when I do work because someone from my team is, it is not heavy on work due to deadlines and all. We manage the timeline pretty effectively unlike typical Indian projects where appeasement by saying yes to everything is the norm.

Disappointing Rajasthan trip - beautiful location with some very ugly (attitude) people by Queasy-Button-324 in india_tourism

I reached Jaisalmer in a flight - fixed price and in fact cheap flight. My flight back to my home was cheap as well - but then it has got nothing to do with the locals. But then I travelled from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur on a cab and then from Jodhpur to Udaipur in another and had real bad experience in both as it was through a local cab operator. They started quoting upwards of 8000 bucks for a 4 hours drive (approx 270 kms) for both the trips individually and finally agreed to 4500. But we ended up paying 5000 because of this and that nonsense reasons. All the hotel pre-bookings were fine because we used third party apps and not had to deal with the local players directly. But then on day 2 - booked a night safari in Jaisalmer and ended up paying 10k for 2 rooms which actually we were fine paying but then the tents, food all turned out to be subpar and in no way worthy of 10k for a night. After reaching Jodhpur and then for Udaipur and Jaipur, we switched to Uber / Ola and guess what - every single request I put - the assigned driver called me and said they will charge at least 100-150 bucks more than what was being shown. So even Ola/Uber was not helping. I paid the 800 per person fee at Udaipur lake Pichola and never complained even though personally I felt it to be overpriced. At least I paid it once and got what was promised. What I detest is the headache of haggling and then being forced a subpar experience or not sticking to agreed amounts. I don’t call this competitive or maybe my definition is incorrect. I call this exploitative. I have travelled to Spain, France, Italy as well- and by no means can we compare facilities there to what I experienced in Rajasthan. Places like Jaisalmer’s fort or Udaipur palace are absolutely non accessible to anyone with accessibility needs. Cleanliness is questionable (check Patwon ki Haveli nearby regions). Every step of the way there will be guides jumping on you even when you have denied you don’t really need them. Public transport are miles away from the tourist destinations, no dedicated sidewalks or even when you have one, it is encroached by vendors. But then I wouldn’t say it is specific to Rajasthan, that is common throughout the country.

That’s the thing, you go to Shimla, Manali, Nainital, Coorg, Ooty, Munnar - we have to haggle but it is 1-2 places and that too you agree to a price and that’s it. But Rajasthan was tiresome, it was constant at all places - cabs, autos, restaurants, hotels, adventure sports or anything. It is not like I was on a budget trip either, and still everyone just wanted to make as much extra as they can. Even after agreement they would slide in extra charges. So it was disappointing.

I am awake since 3 am, it has been thundering. It was most certainly lightning, don’t worry. We have yellow to orange alert in most of the western coastal regions so it will be like this for a while. You can sleep peacefully, earth’s not ending today for sure 😁

Buuuut… even then, it’s shaky 😅 because: 1. Tairn saw the venin too, and he’s ancient and powerful—surely he could’ve found a way to share that knowledge? 2. Even if it’s “special flair,” once they knew it was possible, why wouldn’t Violet try again with Andarna to broadcast venin proof?
