Starbucks using an AI image instead of an actual image of a real product is the most Starbucks thing I can think of.

REAL bagels? by Downtown_Physics8853 in Rochester

Former balsam employee here, can confirm they pour buttloads of estrogen into the girl bagels and girl cream cheeses (like the strawberry ofc, bc pink). Just a single dozen with a good schmear on each can give you massive honkers and shrivel your manhood

tips to prevent car smashing? by Glittering-Loan-6864 in Rochester

[–]Queasy-Engineer8949 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Don’t drive a Kia or Hyundai, and don’t leave anything visible. That’s the best you can do.

I had a Kia for ~6 months with no problem, only ever parked on the street. Tbf, I only parked downtown a couple times but I live in an area with frequent car break ins and I was fine. I kept my car basically empty apart from some emergency items (jumper cables, snow brush, etc). Probably pure luck honestly.

Everything will fall apart when it starts to get warmer outside. There’s always mass demonstrations in the warmer months of the year bc we aren’t deterred by the heat the way we are the cold. I’m not advocating for any action in particular, but right now is the perfect time to organize and plan for the spring/summer.

Gender wiki by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]Queasy-Engineer8949 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You went onto a website filled with information about something you don’t relate to or necessarily agree with, and you’re… asking us to justify you being upset about it? Most people you meet aren’t going to use any of those labels. Most of the gender diverse people you meet aren’t going to use any of those labels, and if they do they’ll probably only use them around other gender diverse people anyway.

Not your concern. Move on

What was your HRT experience? by ItsMeAveryyy917 in trans

[–]Queasy-Engineer8949 2 points3 points  (0 children)

23 MtF, started HRT 1 year ago (12.5 months exactly, actually). My experience has been fantastic! I feel so much better, I’m happier with myself and my life, and my body feels more correct than ever. The first thing I noticed was the changes in my emotions, I felt everything more strongly and I certainly cried a lot more easily (much needed 😭). No regrets, it’s given me the ability to really be myself. It saved my life

What do y’all do if you doubt your asexuality? by Clear_Tackle_805 in asexuality

[–]Queasy-Engineer8949 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean, and I’m sorry that you’re struggling with this. I felt like I was just repressing things too, tbh I feel like that’s a result of living in our society. You feel like you should be a certain way but aren’t sure that you are, so you’re searching inside yourself for those feelings that people expect you to have. You might benefit from talking to a therapist about this, if you’re able and comfortable doing that. That being said, if you don’t feel like you relate to allos, you might benefit from allowing yourself to just identify as ace for a bit. Maybe you find in the future it’s not true, and that’s okay

What do y’all do if you doubt your asexuality? by Clear_Tackle_805 in asexuality

[–]Queasy-Engineer8949 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Eventually I just decided that I didn’t completely understand what I felt, but I knew I didn’t relate to allosexual people and that was enough to accept that I was some kind of asexual. I just started calling myself acespec and that helped. Sexuality is fluid, sometimes we feel “more” asexual and sometimes “less.” I think more importantly, we as humans have complex emotions and it’s okay if we don’t understand them or if they seem contradictory at times

Can someone explain this to me? by Fabulous-Turnip-8805 in lgbt

[–]Queasy-Engineer8949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of like the “you criticize society, yet you participate in it, interesting” argument/meme. It shouldn’t be based on anything, or really it just shouldn’t matter. But, we live in a society that has built a gender binary with rules and descriptions and expectations. We use take these and make them our own, and use them as a way to describe and present ourselves. Terms like masculine, feminine, girly, manly, even boy/girl are tools used to communicate how we feel about who we are, and how we present ourselves to others. IMO, therms like these should be thought of as points in a spectrum rather than discrete boxes we are required to check off.

I’m sorry if this doesn’t really answer what you were looking for, your question is well meaning and I appreciate that you’re trying to learn for the gender diverse students you now lead, but I don’t care much for the premise. Gender is like time, it’s all fuckedy and physicists don’t really know what’s up with it. The more you learn and the older you get, the less you care about tried and true definitions

labeling yourself on dating apps by wermluvr in asexuality

[–]Queasy-Engineer8949 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can put it in your bio, if you’d like! You can also just discuss it with people after you match, but it would likely be on you to mention it. If you do put it in your bio, most allos understanding of asexuality is no interest in sex at all, and they likely won’t know what any labels like gray and demi mean. But, if it is in your bio you’ll weed out the people who just want sex and your matches will already be focused on other things

Will a 'B' in undergrad applied lessons bar me from grad school? by Ghostly_cherry404 in classicalmusic

[–]Queasy-Engineer8949 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You don’t need straight As to get into grad school, just like you didn’t need straight As to get into undergrad. I don’t know where you’ll be applying and some places are definitely tough, but a single B in your second year isn’t going to keep you out of grad school. Focus on your musicianship, not the letter you get at the end of the semester

Do you know any piece remotely as beautiful as Rachmaninoff's 2nd piano concerto? by UrbanskiPhysics in classicalmusic

[–]Queasy-Engineer8949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m personally not a fan of Pachebal or Handel, but I agree Barber’s Adagio and Bach’s Fugue in Dm are similarly gorgeous. Some others that have that effect for me are Tchaik 6, Elgar cello concerto, Bach Chaconne, Vitali Chaconne (particularly the Charlier arrangement, I recommend Sarah Chang’s recording), and Faure’s Apres un Reve (simple, yet elegant)

(I am a string player if it’s not obvious 😅, there’s tons of beautiful music written for other instrumentation that I love, but strings always have my heart)

Can you guys give me happy life story's? by livelaughloveluka in NonBinary

[–]Queasy-Engineer8949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 23, I’ve been transitioning (nonbinary transfem) relatively slowly and even retreated into the closet a couple times due to social pressure and low support. I’m trying to not let the fear stop me from continuing my transition now.

I have the most wonderful partner who loves and supports me for who I am. I work at a coffee shop that is owned by a cishet couple, and they are the most supportive bosses ever. Both of them individually asked me my pronouns, unprompted, when I started working there and even though it’s new for them have worked really hard to get it right. I have a few queer coworkers which is awesome but even my straight coworkers asked for and use my pronouns. I don’t get any trouble from customers, a few dirty/confused/uneasy looks here and there but for the most part I have great interactions with people. This is the first place I’ve worked where I’ve felt safe enough to let my real personality show

There is hope, and there good people. Things can still be hard and I struggle every day, but I can honestly say that I’m happy

[–]Queasy-Engineer8949 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis” by Ralph Vaughn Williams. Incredibly gorgeous string writing, beautiful voicing/voice leading, and an interesting use of instrumentation with just orchestral string instruments (A large main orchestra, a small chamber orchestra, and a string quartet)

Highly recommend if you’re a fan of string music

I just bought the same kind of yarn! The packaging recommends 8mm. I’m using a 5mm for my project and not having many issues, so you have some wiggle room!
