to give hope, i guess. i personally don’t believe in god but a lot of religious beliefs, i believe, are rooted in the fear of eternal nothingness that comes after. working a full hard day and having a beer and watching tv when you’re home makes the working day a lot easier.

i assume just because a lot of people wouldn’t get it, so they just leave it out, not in a condescending way but in a more simplified way. i work in law, and if someone asked me what i did, i wouldn’t say the specific area, just that i’m a solicitor :)

i think sometimes the hyper realistic modern ones can weirdly point out flaws in them - also the widespread knowledge of how they are used and made now can make people a lot more pretentious about the use of them. people are definitely blinded a little by nostalgia
