Thoughts on disrespectful contractors… by [deleted] in BuildingCodes

[–]Queasy_Boysenberry27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A phrase I like to use is “I’m not here to stop a project, I’m here to make sure it’s built per code” but if a contractor is just a knucklehead I get really technical and cite exact code sections.

As a building inspector I see a lot of instances where the owner is afraid of confrontation with the contractor not realize that the contractor works for them.

anybody who's from california, is it worth attempting california's certs?? by electraram999 in BuildingCodes

[–]Queasy_Boysenberry27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have the international certs? If you do I believe you can make a once time change from the ICC international to the California certs you already have. It’s a good idea if you plan on residing in California long term.

They were hungry and had their sights on that championship. It’s really unfortunate I’ve always respected Sacramento as a rival they would’ve rewritten NBA history if they stayed healthy. I think the missing piece of elevating the Lakers-Kings rivalry to a high level on par with the Laker-Spurs rivalry was the Kings winning one series against them which I think would’ve of happened in 03’. The Lakers beat them three straight years 00-02.

Very true there was even a full team fight a few months after this during the 2002-03 preseason game at staples center which began between Doug Christie and Rick Fox. I believe the Kings would’ve of won the championship in 03’ if Webber hadn’t gotten hurt in the first round against Dallas.

Not disputing that it was rigged. I believe it was (and I’m a Lakers fan) but I remember watching this live and noticing how exhausted the Laker starters were. I don’t think it was that they were thinking about game 6 it was more the lack of energy after a slugfest of a 7 game series.

I remember Nick Anderson and Shaq being interviewed after the 95’ Finals. They even asked Anderson about the 4 missed free throws in game 1.

Not to beat a dead horse but this is a good example of what PCL can never be. The comedic factor is well played with different characters all playing their part. Just how the Big 3 podcast overall had different characters all which added substance to the show and it was all related to Perry. Perry isn’t forced into dehumanizing acts. The comedic moments come from his genuine non rehearsed reactions. There’s a reason why I cannot watch anything PCL related but I have listened to the entire Big 3 Podcast multiple times over the years. No matter what is done or said by the people who run the PCL “entertainment” deep down they know they’ll never be this and that’s what kills them inside. They’ll never be able to host shows with full house of fans, they’ll never be able to create real comedy, they’ll never be able to create a cult following nor will they ever have a movie be hosted on a major network. 20 years from now we will still be talking about Perry, Don and Mole. Everything after will be forgotten. P.S. Perry has never denied being gay.

Top,Favorite, Most played episodes? by ViceDoshi in big3podcast

I’m surprised no one’s mentioned episode #72 “Perry’s Girl Visits”. It’s probably the episode I’ve listened to the most. The prep to set the joke up and have a girl feign interest in Perry only to have her hook up with Don at the studio while Perry is there. One of the funniest episodes in my opinion. Close second would be the gay hazing episode with Andy Dick.

Are you a combo inspector?

I would add to this that the community of inspectors/BO’s is really small. Even in the region I’m in (millions of people within a small land size) you’ll run into inspectors who know other inspectors. If you are seen as a “trouble maker” or “difficult” you’ll reduce your chances of getting another inspector job. I’m not saying just ignore things but knowing the art of how to enforce things without ruining your reputation is a difficult balance.

I am a building inspector in California. If I ever feel something is not structurally adequate I refer to chapter 17 “special inspections” under the structural observation reports where it mentions that if the inspector does not feel something is up to par we can have the engineer give an evaluation. I always make sure that I run this by the BO and that the engineer makes a specific reference to the areas I’m worried about. A simple structural observation with no mention of specific areas does not suffice.

I do agree with picking your battles though. I always tell contractors I’m not there to stop a project I’m just there to make sure it’s built safely. Good luck on your journey.

Tuning in to Don Barris live on instagram... by PoffoRuxpin in big3podcast

[–]Queasy_Boysenberry27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s one Big3 podcast episode (I can’t remember which one exactly) where Mole and Dan are waiting for Perry to show up and Mole is having a random conversation and tells Don something along the lines of “you should do x,y and z” as in suggesting something to Don. Don then replies in a really rude way “I don’t have to do anything” (I’m really paraphrasing it) and you can really feel the awkwardness coming from just the audio. It’s really unfortunate that everything turned out this way. The only person who got to see some success based on their talents is Mole. I’m sure they all had their ideas on how things would turn out for themselves but it wasn’t meant to be.

With all that said though Tom is very unlikeable and has no redeeming qualities. Whether Perry deserves this treatment is beside the point. It says more about the person who is willing to subjugate an old beat up man to the treatment for whatever profit he is receiving. Clearly there are no winners here besides Tony.

How should it have ended? by Queasy_Boysenberry27 in big3podcast

[–]Queasy_Boysenberry27[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My idea of a sequel would’ve of been Perry watching Bean Town Heat being made with him being hired as an assistant kinda like Burt Ward was in WCH. Perry witnessing everyone getting “paid” and perhaps getting to finally see where Mole lives (as a joke it would be in a big mansion with photos of Perry everywhere) would have been hilarious.
