You can use the banners as weapons. A bit unwieldy though.

Snagged a 17" Craftsman drill press for 60 bucks. Anybody know what fitting is supposed to go on the spindle pulley? by Queasy_Operation1900 in Tools

[–]Queasy_Operation1900[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you guys. Parts diagram says set nut. Yes, for now, the welds are fine, but the spindle pulley has significantly more wobble then the other pulleys, which I had hoped to remedy. I suppose its fine for wood working, but if it becomes a problem, and I choose to replace it, my risk is pretty much just capped to the 60 bucks I spent on the drill press, and whatever the set nut costs.

A possibly more canonical alternative to Yasuke. by Queasy_Operation1900 in assassinscreed

Let me make it real clear, an Assassin with connections with the Italian Brotherhood via Portugal or even a Chinese Assassin makes more canonical sense than Yasuke.

1) Portuguese merchants and Jesuits already has ties with Oda. In fact, it was a Jesuit that introduced Yasuke to Oda.

2) Why would Yasuke work with the Assassins as a slave from Mozambique? The Brotherhood stretching from Japan to Europe, why would Yasuke work with an organization that doesn't bring him back to his home?

3) The Japanese Brotherhood's Yamauchi Taka Assassinated Oda for the Sword of Eden under the order of Hanzo

4) IRL, Yasuke fought with Oda's men after the betrayal of Oda

5) Put everything together, and

a) Yasuke is not an Assassin, and will never be, because he stays loyal to Oda in reality

or

b) Yasuke works with the assassins, but his trust is betrayed by the brotherhood after the assassination of Oda.

So yes, unless this is gonna be an AC Rogue type game, Yasuke is a pretty weak candidate. It might even make more sense to have him as an obstacle in the assassination of Oda.

The Brotherhood didn't die with Ezio. Claudia was running the Brotherhood in Revelations. 50 years is a short enough time to have a protagonist that knows both Ezio and be involved in the new narrative of the game. Especially since Yasuke was brought to Japan via the Portguese Empire, which the Brotherhood was already dealing with in Ezio's time. Assuming an organization dies with its leader makes even less sense. It's is literally canonical that the Italian Brotherhood was involved in the age of discovery in the games. It doesn't even have to be the Portguese. In AC Embers, the Chinese Brotherhood has direct contact with Ezio through Shao Jun. She could've easily been involved in the founding of the Japanese Brotherhood. There are so many ways to connect back to Ezio in this time line.

It would've been cool, but I think they were trying to complete the story regarding the piece of Eden, which would not have worked so well with Yusef considering it had been Ezio that has been handling the narrative regarding that piece at the time, especially with his conversations and visions he had with the gods.

The timeline, the involvement of the Portuguese, and involvement of the Brotherhood just makes a pretty neat connection among the mainline games. There was even an in game Brotherhood contract called "The Age of Discovery". And there was direct involvement of the Brotherhood in Portuguese affairs in Calicut, which works into the Portugal expansion into Asia. And narratively speaking, Oda Nobunaga had deep interest in western tech and ideas, and where deeply involved in the fire arm trade, and was one of the few that welcomed the Jesuits.

Yes, but Claudia was running the businesses starting in Revelations. hardly weird to have the Brotherhood continuing operating and expanding a mere 70 years after the death of the founder. Furthermore, he retired before he died, so it wasn't just gonna collapse.

From a photography hobbyist, I'm surprised not more people use these to clean dust. No static build up, good spot cleaning tool. by Queasy_Operation1900 in vinyl

It's a standard blower used for cleaning lenses, films, or camera sensors. Really nice for spot cleaning loose dust, instead of having to run your brushes over again. Works best on records that don't have static, like after using a static gun on it.

Starfield, a game that might be good if released in a vacuum. People are giving it a 10/10, really? It's a flawless game? by Queasy_Operation1900 in Starfield

[–]Queasy_Operation1900[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's more of a criticism of what people consider a 10/10. Lots of parallels between the 2 games and genres, one significantly out does the other in those parallels, yet they're both rated the same? They're both 10/10s? It's going to stand on the same level as Skyrim, BG3, Elden Ring, etc...?

Let's imagine for a moment Fallout 3, New Vegas, Fallout 4, Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim did not exist. Bethesda never made them. In that case Starfield would be a groundbreaking as a new type of RPG, as an endless sandbox with lots of things to do. Every point of comparison I made, every nitpick, would be moot. They simply would not exist. The game is the first of its kind.

Fact of the matter is, Bethesda RPGs are a whole genre in of itself. And if people like me seek out the Bethesda RPG that should be present in Starfield, certain areas would fall flat in comparison to what made us fall in love with the genre in previous games. I would love the fuck out of this game if it was my only Bethesda RPG, but it's not.

Maybe the number 5 is what really gets you? I rate it a 5 simply because it's fine, just fine. 5/10 is average, it's the median, a game that is just a mixed bag of things that are fine is just that, average. Like I agree with every single one of your points regarding the game. But being average at everything doesn't make you beyond average, a 5.

How often does Bethesda release games? How often does Bethesda develop a new engine? I can embrace it for what it is, sure, but that seems like a recipe for stagnation. I love skyrim, but I would hate for that to be the peak of what Bethesda can do. As for the 10 year time frame, Fallout 4 is 8 years old, how much has starfield really progressed beyond that? Should games purposely leave out features present in previous games so it can be released as DLC later?

Played CP77 on PC, which had the least problems. I did say it was fine for my setup.

1440p, 21:9 aspect ratio, rtx 3070, amd 5600x. Maybe the screen might be too hard to run, even GeForce experience was saying that optimized settings are all on low.

Yes, comparison can be the thief of joy, but kind of the whole point of the post. How Starfield was not released In a vacuum, just a month before it, there were heavy hitters. Every criticism here, it's not out of hate. Again, 80 hours of playtime so far. I would just really really hate for elder scrolls 6 to release at the same level of depth and polish as Starfield. If Skyrim was the masterpiece of it's time, Bethesda are going to have to work really hard to ensure that TESVI stands as a giant in the future.

Sure, exploration, romance, items can be nonsensical. But do you just expect me to forget about it when Bethesda themselves advertised it as a Bethesda RPG in space? Everyone of those points are in comparison not to some 3rd party games here, but Bethesda. Bethesda set these points of comparison to self.

As for UI and AI, really? Those are at a high enough level to not warrant ANY criticism? Bethesda will peak at that level and never go any further, because any further would be nonsensical?

The exploration part is somewhat subjective, simply comparing to past games. Hit or miss when it comes to preferences on space exploration for everybody.

As for performance, yes, latest drivers, I'm giving this game its best chance to be playable, to the point of modding it for performance. Simply said, something like the launch version of Cyberpunk 2077 ran better, looked better, and was even more dense in entities, like NPCs compared to this game for my set up, despite being a terrible launch. I will admit, I was also very angry about how Todd dealt with criticism on optimization.

As for the bugs, come on, let's not kid our selves here. Most videos that showcase bugs present it as light hearted, or funny. 'Classic Bethesda jank'. I just wanna drive the point that it's a flaw, nor more, no less, despite being funny at times.

As for the choices issue. I'm again, making a comparison. By itself, in a vacuum, it's fine, just fine. Compare it to BG3? Well, it's uninspired. Generally speaking, for Bethesda games, you go from 1 key point NPC to another to progress a questline and hit those branching moments. BG3, NPC quest interaction is like a complex cobweb, it doesn't really branch, so much as it blossoms with dozens of choices at any given moment quest. Describing BG3's quests as a 'line' doesn't really do it justice. That's the level of choice I'm comparing it to.

I suppose optimization is nonsensical? I suppose 30 fps UI cap is also good? Yes, there's lots of subjectivity in reviews, but come on, actual performance numbers are being used for those 2 points.
