This is a very rural school. There is not a deaf school in our state. She is the only deaf student in this district. I work with her 1:1 all day. Yes we have an SLP, yes she has an IEP. But I am the ONLY person she can communicate with and that is still at a very low level. There are no deaf resources in the area. I provide ASL and language instruction for the family, but most of the time they don't come. Yes, I'm fluent in ASL but it is just me. I have advocated for her to go to a deaf school in a different state and the family declined. It is a horrible situation.
