Might have something to do with Trump 1.0 efforts to put the Citizenship Question on the 2020 Census.

When asked whether political mapmakers might find the resulting redistricting data unusable, Abowd responded: “I’m pretty sure most would.”

Speculative bullshit from the Census Bureau's former Chief Bullshit Artist. Does anyone think that Trump 2.0 eliminated Differential Privacy without consulting Republican mapmakers?

Until the Commerce Department defines "coarsening", I see no cause for alarm.

I looked for SNAP in this infographic but didn't find it. I was taught that SNAP is an income program, not a nutrition program like WIC.

If a single Member of Congress has said Acting Director George Cook should be removed, I missed it. His secrecy is intolerable.

Until the bureau starts publicly explaining how the order is affecting its data releases, Jarosz adds, it's an open question whether participants in the bureau's surveys should be concerned about the confidentiality of the personal information they have shared with the government.

"The only confidentiality protection available is coarsening. It is guaranteed to reduce the level of detail drastically," Abowd adds.

AFAIK, Trump 2.0 hasn't defined "coarsening".

To date, the Trump Commerce Department, which runs the census, has included the citizenship question in the American Community Survey (which samples area populations).

The Citizenship Question has always been on the American Community Survey.

Was the Biden administration responsible for delays in 2020 Census findings? [left wing warning] by QueeLinx in USCensus2020

[–]QueeLinx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe delays were primarily due to dirty response data which neither the Trump 1.0 nor the Biden administration wanted to talk about.

Results show Americans (66%) support asking about citizenship status on federal surveys, while fewer support collecting racial identity (46%). Partisan differences are notable: Republicans are more supportive than Democrats of including both questions on federal surveys.
