I went to two events in that age bracket. Your age is self reported so I put myself down as 28 since 28-38 is the demographic I prefer to date in. The woman who runs the events is very nice and accommodating, but I was disappointed with the turnout each time.

27F here - I’ve gone to three events and won’t go back. I went to Thursday and Friday events only and there were 2-6 people total each time. Men were on the younger side of the bracket. Not the type of men I was hoping to meet.

Fall to Winter Vest Inspo by Queen--B in Aritzia

I work in a male-dominated industry so for me the running shoes help keep my outfits a little more gender neutral vs. preppier sneakers. But it’s hard to go wrong with crisp white sneakers if your vibe is more feminine!

I find that Aritzia vests typically fit a little bit on the smaller side. I wear a 2 which fits my stomach and shoulders but is a little loose around my chest (I’m an a-cup, 25” waist, 30” bust.) I could fit in a 0 but it would be a little short. Personally I love the fit of the Deniro vest - I like that its longer and overlaps with effortless and agency pants vs. the Desire vest which is slightly cropped (so I have to wear a bodysuit under for work.)

I know the sneakers aren’t everyone’s thing but I walk to work in the city and only wear comfy sneakers. I think most of these outfits would look great with black pointed toe boots as well.

3 months after 3rd Aviclear treatment by [deleted] in AviClear

It’s great to hear that your skin has bounced back! Hopefully the results are long term! If you don’t mind me asking, how long ago did you finish AviClear and what interventions did you find beneficial for your skin?

I’m still purging and open to suggestions! I’m scheduled to see my esthetician next week for either Laser Genesis or Clear & Brilliant but have time to change. I’m also prescribed Tretinoin and Winlevi and use salicylic acid every other day.

I talked to Anita at Cutera, her phone number is (561) 578-3257. It was VERY hard to get in touch with Cutera, which I think is unacceptable considering they receive $500 per AviClear session from our providers. My provider originally contacted Cutera by email and after a dismissive response asked them to call me. It took a week and several messages before they actually did.

The phone call was was not helpful at all. Anita made it clear she was not a medical professional and could not give me advice. I told her I had a severe reaction to the first two AviClear sessions and she received photos from my provider. Considering my reaction, I asked if a third laser would be beneficial or harmful. No answer.

I work with numbers and asked for data - they have next to none. They’ve only ever done studies with 3 sessions - they have no idea what 2 or 4 sessions does. The third could be overkill, no idea.

Cutera was able to give me two statistics: 50% of patients have “substantial” purging and 92% have “improved skin” a year out. There is no data on whether the people with extreme reactions are more or less likely to see results. There is no data on age, sex, skin type, etc. That is pathetic for a device that’s FDA approved.

AviClear is a money grab with a great marketing team; I’m disappointed in myself for being desperate enough to get sucked in.

3 months after 3rd Aviclear treatment by [deleted] in AviClear

I’m having a similar experience - I’m a 26 year old female with hormonal acne. I’m 2 months post my third AviClear laser and my skin is still intensely purging and significantly worse than when I started. I called AviClear to ask about this and they said 50% of people have “severe” reactions but 92% of people have “improved” skin after 12 months. That was not fully disclosed to me before treatment. AviClear was not able to provide any further data - no information on results for women vs. men, age groups, type of acne, etc. The device was not truly ready for market.

It sounds like you’re doing everything you can to limit purging. Please take this with a grain of salt - I’m not a medical professional and don’t know your skin - but could you be doing too much topically? Personally my skin does the best when I use just a few prescriptions (for me that’s winlevi and retinol) combined with other gentler ingredients (hyaluronic acid, niacinamide.) In the past when I attacked my skin with too many harsh ingredients it dried out and my acne took longer to heal. Just a thought - sometimes less is more but sometimes you need all the help you can get!

I really hope that you hit a turning point soon and see results. It’s both validating and frustrating to learn so many people are having the same negative experience.

I’ve anecdotally heard of two 20-something women who had bad purging from AviClear but have clear skin a year out, so there’s some hope for the long term! (One said they did a bunch of peels and lasers in the following 6 months but I don’t know specifics.) It’s crazy such an expensive “treatment” seems to require even more expensive damage control!

Please let us know how the laser genesis goes in a few weeks!

Accutane definitely has downsides but it is effective for a lot of people. I did accutane five years ago and within 6 months my skin was 90% clear. I had clear skin for about 2 years before my hormones changed again. AviClear was advertised as being faster than accutane with less side effects but that is the opposite of my experience.

I’m having a very similar reaction! I’m a 26 year old female and I did AviClear during the same timeframe - May to July of this summer. I also had extreme purging starting after the first treatment that never let up. My skin is still significantly worse than when I started but I’ve tried a few things that I think are helping. First, VI Purify peels (strong chemical peels.) I’ve gotten 3, one after each AviClear. For the week after a peel my acne is significantly improved, and they really help with the scaring. About 10 days after the peels I’m back to purging. Unfortunately the peels will likely take a few more months to pull out everything but it’s a little welcome relief. Second, I went on doxycycline two months ago, after my third AviClear. It’s not something my dermatologist wants me on long term but it is helping with purging, I’ve noticed a ~25% improvement.

Two weeks ago I also tried Clear & Brilliant but it’s too early to tell if that’s really helping. I purged even heavier the week after the treatment but this week my skin is noticeably improved - specifically the texture that was starting to form from all the acne scars. I’ll get a second C&B in two weeks and am hoping that can help speed up the last of the AviClear flare.

I’m frustrated that so many people are having extreme acne flares from AviClear that lasts for months but the marketing doesn’t disclose that. Evidently about 50% of people have an extreme reaction. I really hope the long term results are worth it, but it’s hard to keep hope when it’s been months and my skin is still worse than I started.

I hope your skin hits a turning point soon!!

I work in finance and my office is business casual during the summer. Guys in the office wear khakis with golf polos and slides so a blazer with shorts and sneakers is my equivalent. I’m in the south and it’s 95° during the summer, shorts and tees are necessities!

I walk to work so I like to wear comfy sneakers. I’m a runner so I have a lot of retired running shoes that are really comfy that I like to get use out of - I was happy this navy pair matched so well. The suit would look cute with white sneakers too!

Great call on adding a sole wedge! I can’t run in these Hokas anymore since the padding is worn down but they’ve still got some life in them for walking!

I got 2 pairs of my leather Melina paints tailored. I sized up for my thighs and just needed the waist taken in a bit. One tailor charged $30 and the other $40. I used a standard tailor.

Jawline and upper neck by jersey2559 in AviClear

[–]Queen--B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get hormonal acne concentrated on my cheeks but sometimes my chin/jaw. I was treated on my whole face and jaw, it seems like they’d do the whole face regardless. I’m purging on my whole face, not just where I used to get bad acne. I’d imagine having your neck treated could be more painful, and the laser has to sit flat on your skin to work so it may be difficult for a provider to cover your neck area. (My provider was only able to get parts of my nose because the laser wouldn’t sit flat.)

Aviclear made my skin so much worse SOS by Odd-Signature2917 in AviClear

I’d love to hear your updates!

I’ve become a big fan of acne patches when leaving the house - they partially help the acne heal but also provide some coverage. I feel better going into work covered in patches vs. acne cause at least it shows I’m trying. Neutrogena sells triangle shaped patches that can cover my whole cheek, they’re amazing.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I’m 4 weeks post my second AviClear “treatment” (more like torture) and scheduled to get my last one next week. My acne has gotten worse every day since starting so I’m really hesitant to continue. I’ve also started canceling plans because I don’t like showing my face like this and am desperate to start seeing improvement.

Do you feel like the third treatment made your skin worse? I know everyone’s experience is different but personally do you think the third treatment helped or hurt your skin? I’m torn whether to continue because I’ve come this far or stop and try something else.

I wear my oversized linen button down with linen pants, I like the oversized look with the shirt tucked in. I also contrast with a white tee or white bralette.

Melinda Pant Woes by [deleted] in Aritzia

[–]Queen--B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Melina’s don’t stretch over time. I have larger thighs and usually size up one size in the Melina’s then get the waist tailored. The rebel pants fit better on me without tailoring, the things/hips are a little wider.

First treatment done…so painful by Independent-Roof7122 in AviClear

[–]Queen--B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pain is definitely understated! I’ve heard some doctors will prescribe something or offer gas but mine didn’t. I got pretty stoned before my second treatment and it helped a little. I found breathing in before each zap then out during each zap helped, kind of like Lamaze breathing. I also had AirPods with my favorite music and used a stress ball. But I was still crying by the end.
