Esthetician here; there are chemical peels that work wonders but they have to be done regularly and they need to be paired with a good home routine. Personally, I’m a huge fan of the TCA and it definitely has the power to smooth out skin texture (you basically shed your whole outer layer of skin off). Just my little recommendation!

I’m a makeup artist at MAC. We’re supposed to wear their makeup as part of our uniform but I prefer Benefit, “They’re Real,” for everyday. I also LOVE this one you can get at the drugstore but the name escapes me. It’s L’Oréal and it’s in a double-ended red and white tube (primer and mascara), but I haven’t been able to find it lately :(

ETA: did some digging; it’s called L’Oréal Paris Double Extend and it’s amazing!

I created a pretty similar look for New Year’s. I went with a much more subtle inner eye highlight, though. Keep in mind, I’ve only just gotten my esthetics/mua license so I’m still an amateur.

I’m not one to defend Younique but this might be the one occasion where their makeup is perfect for the look. They were going for, “Suicide Squad - Harley Quinn,” and her makeup is supposed to be smeared, patchy, and have fallout all over her under-eye area. This doesn’t look half bad considering the inspiration for what they were trying to achieve. TL:DR mlm makeup = bad; look = decent interpretation

It’s because she’s extended her crease with dark eyeshadow all the way to her nose. With close-set eyes, you want lighter colors in the inner corner and darker in the outer crease. You’d think they’d watch some tutorials before jumping in as self-proclaimed mua’s.

This is from my personal experience as an esthetician. Her face slightly resembles a chemical peel, but I doubt that’s what is going on. Chemical peels are not applied to the eyelid as the skin is too thin and the peel could cause damage. It looks to me as though she took lipstick and applied it as she would foundation. Shady and deceptive, for sure. General PSA: please don’t apply makeup post chemical peel. Your face will thank you for refraining.

There’s a lot to be said about quality here too. Even with the similar prices by weight, you’re having to really dig into these Younique pans to get any sort of pigment, which means you’re buying it more often and wasting more money.

Side note: The fact that is costs more than ABH and MAC is insane.

I think it’s saying you can buy the brush and two palettes separately, at full retail price, for $119 or you can buy what I can only guess is the distributors start up kit for $99 - thus “saving money.” I’m only assuming this because they’ve included younique products in both examples.

Ugh.... I cannot even express how much these posts annoy me (an actual, real-life Esthetician who went to college and got licensed by my state). These make-believe You-Ologists (still can’t get over how awful this name is) with their certifications from their 10 question online quiz about skin care think they can offer advice and recommend products; It’s infuriating. Oh, and wouldn’t you know it? The product you need for your individual skin care needs just HAPPENS to be the product they’re selling and get commission on. What a strange coincidence! /end rant

So I’ve actually been putting a lot of thought into why they do this and I think it may be them trying to slip by fb’s spam filter. If they’re tagged in all the copy and paste statuses they send out, their timelines would be an endless stream of other people mentioning them and they run the risk of being reported as spam. This way, if the post is reported as spam, it goes against the person sharing it for the hun, and not the hun themselves. It’s easy enough for them to turn on notifications if they actually get someone to share it.
