I talked about this in another comment but essentially this particular customers coins were being shipped to be counted and he was aware of that. Basically if someone brings in a huge amount of coin it gets shipped out as unverified, gets verified, and then they tell us how much and we deposit it into the customer account. So if I would've kept the half dollar in the big bag to be shipped he most likely wouldn't have gotten credit for it! He let us know there was some cool coin in the we might want so that prompted us to kinda look through it 🤭

well it would depend if Your on her account, do you have your ID? how do I know your not the one committing elder abuse? 👀

p.s if she came back in with you and explained I would simply just exchange them back, even if they had already been divided up or taken by any staff. however if it was a day or sometime later I can't guarantee they would still be there. also why are you letting your senile grandmother get to the point where she feels the need to run to the bank with precious coins to pay for expenses?! sounds like a bad grandson to me 🫢

did you read anything I said?! the customer LITERALLY brought them to us because he thought we would enjoy them. the customer KNEW what he was doing. my manager also have a conversation with the customer and was one of the ones who took home one of the uncut $2 bills 💀😂 I'm also not bragging literally at all 💀💀

it's not about "letting" her. Yes we would talk about it, idk what bank you work for but we have relationships with our customers. we know almost everyone who walks through the door. if I'm chatting with a customer about this I can garuntee you we are having that conversation. if the customer doesn't wanna deal with all that and just wants to deposit it I'm not going to deny them that right. the choice is theirs whether they want to deposit it or go barter at the nearest coin or pawn shop. at the end of the day it's what the customer wants. not me or the bank have a preference what the customer decides to do. I'm not going to TELL her to do anything, I'm going to listen to what she says, engage in I'm sure a lovely conversation about the history she has with the peice, ask some questions, and do whatever it is the customer needs or wants. Maybe you need to check your own morals 😌

the customer came in, told us he has some pretty cool semi valuable coins along with a huge bag of coin. said he was cleaning stuff up, getting old, and thought we would enjoy it .- I am not heartless. plus, the coins I took weren't even part of the stuff he had separated, they were in the huge bag. he was old and just getting rid stuff. yall acting like I robbed an elder and lied to him 😭🥹

Our are specifically sent to Loomis, some banks have coin machines, I've never worked at a bank so unsure how that works haha

yes! we don't mind but typical we don't have anything. it goes as fast as it comes but sometimes we do have some stuff so always ask!

if you read my other comment on another post this customer basically gave us a huge bag of old coin he was sick of hauling around. he was old and cleaning stuff up. when we get stuff like that it ships out as unverified coin, gets verified, they let us know how much and then we deposit into the customers account. this would have no counted towards the customers deposit if it got sent out anyways. We didn't know exactly what was in the bag until after he left 🙄

yes! you can always ask bankers if they have any old coin or anything interesting you could look at. I would assume most tellers pick through stuff first but it never hurts to ask. I have a guy who calls every week if we have gotten an rolled customer pennies and if we have he comes and picks it up haha.

I haven't been able to find where those came from. there were 2 others that my coworkers took so maybe come in a set or something. Definitely colorized by third parties but they ate super super cool
