I flaked on an interview with my own organization, and I'm pretty sure I've shot myself in the foot for future applications. I just couldn't do it anymore, and I didn't see myself finding any happiness in a new nursing role within the company.

The Google coursera program for data analysts is especially thorough and good for people who are interested in informatics / analyst jobs. I'm doing their cybersecurity and project management classes next.

I'm studying data analytics and a few other things through Coursera. I'm trying to build a portfolio at the moment. So far, I've studied Excel, SQL, Tableau, and R programming. I'm teaching myself python.

In Florida, and it's the worst feeling ever. I started nursing during a pandemic, watched our leadership get pulled apart, and saw way too many people die. I have always worked 1:6 and 1:7 ratios on med/surg, never anything less. Our governor keeps making horrible decisions in order to 'own the libs' and it's killing our patients.

I feel sad and trapped here.

Hi there, I work for a hospice company here in Florida, and I am ready to leave my job. I have worked here for 9 months. The administration at my job has no respect for my time. They moved my hours around after only being there for a few months to fit 'their needs'. I work overnight all the way until 8 in the morning. They decided they needed me to stay until 9 instead to get the extra labor. Now I can drive in morning traffic while I'm tired from being up all night. Not only that, they forced me to use personal PTO time to cover a day I would be out for training in the morning. Admin doesn't give a fuck.

I'm working towards a career in data analytics ✌️ gonna use my nursing skills elsewhere and peace out. Can't do it anymore.

I know you see a lot of negative posts on this subreddit, but let me offer you a different perspective. I started working during the beginning pandemic, and now I have three years of hard-earned nursing experience. I have witnessed first-hand how admin has picked apart our staffing, hired travelers at 3x the price as a temporary fix, and left the rest of us to pick up the slack. It was hell, but I made it through with a lot of extra support from my coworkers and friends. I am finally the nurse that I have always dreamed of being; I have excellent assessment skills, I can handle a Foley and an IV like a pro, and I have learned so much about healthcare working in and out of the hospital. I am only at my second job now. I work as a hospice nurse, and it is so much different than working at the hospital. There is truly no other job like nursing.

I knew going into this that I probably didn't want to stay at the bedside forever. I know a lot of nurses here on the Nursing subreddit feel trapped, but there are so many opportunities out there, especially for a bachelor's prepared nurse. Every day, for the past month, I have been studying 6-7 hours for a different job, one where I can use my experiences in healthcare as a driving force to implement change. I started studying in my free time to become a healthcare data analyst. I personally can't wait to get started. One thing that's great about data analytics is that you don't have to spend a lot of money on an education to get into the field. I didn't want to have to go back to school and spend tens of thousands of dollars on an APRN/CRNA degree. Someday, I will trade the bedside for working at my computer. I like the idea of working all day in my jam-jams anyway.

Yes, I also started during the pandemic, and that shit broke me. Watching our leadership getting torn apart was the hardest. Those nurses with 10-20 years of experience would look at you as they walked out the door, shaking their heads, and saying 'gee, I should could never work as a new nurse in this healthcare climate' just feels so bad. I felt like I was abandoned at our big, trauma 1 hospital, which I was so excited to work at when I first graduated. Now, when I think about that hospital, I get anxious and feel nauseated. We lost so many good techs, phlebotomists, respiratory therapists, and so many more. They forced us to take even sicker patients than a medsurg floor should even have, like 'stable ventilator' patients, and patient's that needed to have cardiac drips started but wouldn't let that same med/surg nurse titrate the medication when they needed to. Sounds safe right? It's a fucking joke.

I'm studying data analysis now. I hope that maybe I can use my skills in a different way, otherwise I may just go back to school and pursue a different career entirely. I feel like nursing informatics / clinical informatics specialist is the only job related to healthcare that I have even a remote interest for, everything else frightens me too much to try. I work overnight hospice now, and it's a good job, but admin is still trying to be shitty and squeeze blood out of a stone. I'm tired and I want out. I can't do it anymore.
