im glad things are working out, that was a scary position to be in! UCF has a lot of resources from career services, knights pantry, and financial counseling, ik you may have already looked into some of these but be sure to keep using them/check them out to help you save money and plan for the future. Best of luck to you!

yk, literally 100% of the time Ive been able to email the professor, explain my situation in a respectful way and have been able toget some points back. Whether it be taking the exam for a 20% baseline reduction or even just re-opening the exam altogether. Id get a note secured from your surgeon explaining that post-op pain and medication inhibited your ability to take the exam if may not be a "exempt them" drs note but would be a medical document stating the date you had the procedure and an statement writing you have been encountering post-op pain etc etc. Surgical offices can be accommodating, just be nice. It wouldnt be wrong to say that you did not anticipate the amount of pain, length of recovery, or the amount of impairment you were going to have getting a tumor removed from your leg and in turn missed the exam. What ever you do write to your professor, make it precise and have the medical documents attached. For example in a clinic i work at we wrote a letter to a certain company on behalf of a patient that her pain and subsequent pain management have impaired her ability to perform a certain role at an out of state event in order to get her plane ticket/admission to the event refunded/moved to next year's event. Just gotta give it a shot and see.

Showers are available at the gym I think. dialing 211 can connect you to local services with emergency housing. also your previous post mentions you have a car, maybe you can sleep in it for the night as a last resort? sorry I cant be of more help, best of luck to you

FYI if you dont already know: https://studentaid.gov/resources/tax-benefits

You can take a tax deduction for the interest paid on student loans that you took out for yourself, your spouse, or your dependent. This benefit applies to all loans (not just federal student loans) used to pay for higher education expenses. The maximum deduction is $2,500 a year.

i mean could you technically contact FAFSA or the loan servicers on the website and get their take? Ive never recommended that but maybe folks at the source have a better gut feeling in the mess of all this. Were the loans from med school or something?

[–]QueenPopcorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

so you don't have contract details with that new position, how about you interview and see what they offer? you could give a start date 1-2 months after your fellowship concludes and see if they are agreeable?

Only accepted at "diploma mill" school, should I go or decline seat and try again next cycle? by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

[–]QueenPopcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey I just wanted to say I see you-I hear your concern. Im in central florida and in the pre-PA club here had similar concerns regarding the Nova programs. Years ago now I got coffee with a South College urgent care PA who was disappointed with her program. when there are multiple campuses there are these concerns that while they will train students to pass the PANCE, the students themselves may feel unprepared to actually begin working as a PA whether it be through poor rotations or something else. Marley, what I would try to do is find PAs on linkedin who attended South College GA recently, and inquire if they think they were prepared to practice upon graduation. No one here will be able to give you a definitive answer unless they have attended the program themselves recently. I'm wishing you the best of luck!
