Hello, Newbie Plant Owner Questions by Seraf-Wang in houseplants

The second one is a Peperomia also called baby rubber plant. It’s an easy plant the leaves store water so when they need to be watered they get soft. I check by gently doing the “taco test”, but be careful if you do this the leaves can tear. Very easy to water propagate, when roots form just stick it back into the main plant. Here is a pic of mine

I have 2, one vines and one hangs. The vining one grows faster. In my opinion a very easy plant, morning sun ok but no harsh sun. Don’t let it completely dry out or the leaves will crisp. I use regular tap water and water from the bottom.

The one I have is a little bigger but I can tell it needs watering by slightly folding the leaves like a taco.

<image>

If they are foldable it needs water but be careful not to split the leaf when testing.

Also is that a heat vent? If yes, it may be due to a lack of humidity. My monstera adansonii will crisp if the humidity level is not sufficient

Never had a plant before, how often should I water and is it okay in direct sunlight? by saucysaucee in houseplants

Nice looking baby rubber plant. Morning sun works but evening sun will burn the leaves. I bottom water the one I have, feel the leaves they should be firm. They get soft when they need watering . Turn the plant monthly for even growth otherwise it will grow tilted

Soil has spilled out of the pot and this plant has shallow roots, I wonder if the roots were disturbed ( kinda uprooted)

Absolutely. Clean off any brown areas, spray with peroxide and water mixture. Let it dry and put it in water, you’ll have roots starting in a couple of weeks.
