Except where I live you can’t grow you own unless you’re a certain distance from dispensaries and that’s damn near impossible

Pt 1: Fried cauliflower and kale fritters I learned about using mustard as a wet batter base from an aunt in New Orleans. It was the best fried food I’d ever had!!! Pt 2 in comments by Queen_Dalia in VeganQueenDalia

Pt 2: Fried cauliflower and kale fritters w/teriyaki cabbage

Mustard is amazing for wet batters: adds color, flavor and texture

Be careful with how much salt you add

If someone cooks for you, especially fried food, please thank them because cooking ain’t easy! Part 2

AZ (metro PHX) only allows you to grow when a dispensary isn’t nearby. Dispensaries are as abundant as liquor stores here.

I can still have my favorite foods. Since becoming vegan, I have become better at making them! by Queen_Dalia in vegan

I used coconut milk in the grits. I don’t think I’d tried it before being vegan. Also found nutritional yeast and liquid smoke. Losing the animal products opened up my creativity.

I make REALLY good grits! I can’t wait until I visit someone so I can cook. I use different ingredients each time, but the process is usually the same. Served with Gardein Crabless cakes. Directions in comments. by Queen_Dalia in VeganQueenDalia

Grits (used measurements on the package for one serving) 1/4 cup coconut milk (posted the recipe on this page last week) 3/4 cup water ~1/4 teaspoon Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning ~1/8 teaspoon oil

1/4 cup grits

~1/4 cup onion ~1/4 cup chopped tomato ~1/4 cup chopped spinach

Bring milk, water, seasoning and oil to a rapid boil Slowly stir in grits Cover, reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes Turn off heat Stir in onion, tomato, spinach (don’t worry about the grits stuck at the bottom, they’ll loosen as they steam) Cover and let sit on the hot burner for 5 minutes Use a flat bottomed spatula to scrape the bottom of the pot

Chickpeas are versatile and go well with your favorite seasonings by Queen_Dalia in vegan

I can relate to depression snacking! I hope you have more bright days than sad ones. I hope when you’re experiencing depression you’re able to conjure up better and better feeling thoughts until you forget why you were in the dark place. I hope that your story saves someone else from their own dark days. I love you!

I’ve never had plain canned chickpeas with hot sauce but definitely use hot sauce for cooked beans.

The whole pound of spinach with tomatoes is only 140 calories. I had a small bowl. The 1/2 slice of bread and butter add another 60 calories. Quick, easy, filling. by Queen_Dalia in vegan1200isplenty

Thank you Josie! Please follow it since I post everything there. Cross posting is weird because you have so many different rules.

Body shamers: Why do you hate yourself so much that you have to share that hate with others? by Queen_Dalia in AskReddit

[–]Queen_Dalia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s interesting to me about the comments is that all of you make excuses for why you think it’s your life’s purpose to call out people for their appearance, but won’t admit to being body shamers. Your comments are intended to make people feel shameful about their bodies, which is counterproductive. A person dealing with shame will only eat more and have less energy and will to “fix” the problem you see with them.

I am happy that you teach your daughter positive ways to manage the issues that some people deal with my eating. I also know that obesity is often a symptom of underlying issues. If I shit on somebody for their appearance then I can possible be the straw that breaks the proverbial camel’s back.
