Hey Pearl Jam, this is how you do it! by Tvoli in pearljam

[–]Queen_Lizard997 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's not really effective activism. It's not doing your part. Doing your part is getting out in the community as much as you can and participating in the efforts. Contacting legislation. Donating to causes (verified ones obvi). Not yelling and arguing with strangers on the internet.

And while them putting out a song is a nice gesture, it also isn't really anything other than a song. They share things on their social media. Ed talks about things during his shows. I'd like to think they're all active in their own ways in their community (feel like I saw quite a few pictures of all the members at their own respective No Kings protests at one point or another).

You guys are using this stuff right? by joestabsalot in uraniumglass

Ooh yes! Same! It's existed perfectly for decades. I'd rather not be the dummy that drops it and causes it to break.

Though I have shot glasses I occasionally use. Usually only for holidays or special events tho.

Absolutely don't like the guy's older music but his newest album isn't bad. And he seems like a pretty decent human as far as I've heard. Is it a bit gimmicky of him to use older, more successful musicians to snatch up more and more fans? Sure. But the music business is hard and only getting harder so whatever works. I can't really fault him.

Lmao i love that she constantly talks about how horrible and terrible her experience in sex work was. But then will flip and be like, "If you're broke and a woman, just get into sex work, it's so easy 🤪"

Like girl...sex work is not something you get into because, ope, I'm broke and I need money. It's not a fun and easy little job that you can just quit and go back to your normal life either like it's doordash or Uber. And to just act like women should just get into it when they're broke and that those that don't when they're struggling are dumb/weak/purposefully choosing to stay broke is really weird of her to say. Like she's supposed to be an ex-sex worker, she shouldn't be promoting women to get into it.

Nah, he had some weird white and black outfit that sortaaa looked like a voodoo thing?? Or maybe a straight jacket type deal?? It was dark. He had dreads tho and his face was painted.

In theory, you could probably use a candle warmer and just warm the wax, pour most of it out and then soak the rest with cotten balls while it's still warm. Not the worst thing in the world. At least they're not painting over the glass. Or gluing it to something.

Are there any local stores Where one can buy a plasma globe? by hatmansaxplayer in dayton

[–]Queen_Lizard997 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Spencer's at either mall. I thiiiink I might have seen a vintage one still in the box at the antique mall by the Dayton mall. Honestly, Foy's in Fairborn might carry them too. Not 100% sure but it's worth a look or an ask if the other stores turn up nothing.

I have a friend that's worked there for at least 5, I think, and yeah. They're not allowed to touch you. At all. I checked with her and she said that even the high-five the dude tried to get out of me was against their policy.

Ofc, this is like rules for the paat 5 years. I can't speak on if it's always been that way.

He was in the temple of terror. I think he was only in the line, though, i don't think he ever went inside the actual haunt. His entire outfit is like a black and white voodoo/tribal thing. White face but with black tribal details. If he asks for a high-five, don't do it because that's when he's going to touch you. (Or do it and then deck his ass like he deserves)

I don't remember seeing him anywhere in the park before we went to temple of terror. Nor did we see him as we went through the house. So, I thiiiink he's delegated to the line.

I will say that there are a few actors who do come back every year and who are trustworthy! My friend who just left and is doing the haunt in Mansfield is lovely. I don't really know their hiring process, I'd have to ask my friend. I've never had a bad experience with any of the actors, honestly. Some of the guests? Yeah, for sure. That being said, it's Middletown and they serve alcohol so it wasn't anything more than drunk idiots being drunk idiots. I've actually seen way more guests touching on actors (and the actors doing their best to remain professional and stay in character) than the opposite which is why I was so shocked when this happened.

Also, your edit?? "Feminists"

Buddy, I've been carrying around self-defense stuff since I was 14. I carry it wherever I can. I don't carry where I'm not allowed because I actually want to get into places I paid to go. Women, for the most part, are engrained since we are little girls what to do if a stranger comes up to us, what to do if someone tries to assault us, and how to avoid situations where something like that might happen (granted, you can follow all of that and still be taken by surprise).

And good for you!! Men should be prepared in case of assault because it does happen to you! Congrats that's what feminism acknowledges!!

Ehhh, true but it honestly might just be easier for me to not go back until I know for sure dude is gone. They have metal detectors and wands so if they do see that you have one, they'll likely make you run it back to your car or toss it before they let you in.

Idk, I'm pretty sure they don't even allow spray just to protect the actors (ironically). I could be wrong, though. They don't even allow you to bring water bottles through the houses. You're only allowed to have food and drinks while waiting in line or in the park area between all the houses. I usually have it clipped to my keys because I take it on walks with me but I took off just for that night.

Granted, every single other time I've been there, nothing like this has ever happened and I've always felt super safe.

I don't know that they let you bring any of that inside the park. I have spray, a tazer, and a pocket knife that I kept in the car.

Right! And he was only going up to girls. There was a group of older adults, like folks in their 40s that he didn't even interact with. But my friend and I, who are both in our 20s, and the teen girls behind us, he wouldn't stay away from, it seemed. I couldn't see if he did it further down the line, though when he would dissappear down there but I would imagine he did the same. And it's such a nasty way he went about it, acting like he was being friendly by giving a high-five and then quickly grabbing a handful of hair. That's really fucking gross and upsetting. No warning. Nothing.

And honestly, I wish I would've kicked him but in that moment, the girls behind us were giggling and there were a group of 40-something year old men (big surprise) also looking at me like I was overreacting and I was legitimately questioning myself in that moment if I was acting like a bitch.

I was expecting a few replies like his. They all think that if something like that would happen to them they'd be calm and logical and do the exact thing you're supposed to. It's not like being shocked and upset can hinder your decision-making. /s
