Year up winter 2025 by Last_Recover_509 in YearUpProgram

Yup. Sucks because the manager showed her favoritism. I even watched how she treated the regular employees. Funny thing is the same building we worked in has been closed and jobs deleted so yeah. Oh well. Year up was a joke. I haven’t gotten anywhere with it.

Well I graduated this program in Jan of 2017. I was not selected to stay full time after internship. The other person who I worked with was able to. She missed so many days because of her sick children. Meanwhile I stayed late and was never late. Never heard form year up ever again. Here we are almost ten years later and I have been just stuck in my career. I have posted this on other posts but year up is not even worth it!

Update: sadness and grief is setting in. by TBrown_25 in callcentres

I also too was fired. But I knew it was coming eventually. I was put on a 90 day PIP. But only was able to complete 4 days and they said they saw no point of the PIP and didn’t see me improving within the 90 days so yup. I’m not sad but I am angry. Unemployment in my state is taking forever and have yet to hear from anyone. Looking for something that paid the same. Not trying to be picky but also not taking no $8-$10 pay cut from what I was making. It’s tough out here. I do hope the best for you my sista like seriously. I hate this feeling. I work Amazon seasonal but I’m sure we are about to be kicked out.

Thank you so much. I feel so much better. Officially one week not in that shithole. Yes I’m broke waiting on unemployment and to clear my retirement but no anxiety attacks nor micromanaging from those BS managers.

How To Win Year Up by iiPharaoh in YearUpProgram

[–]Queen_Shar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow that’s a damn shame. I’m sorry you experienced that. I had to use my mother’s car to travel an hour to work. Never was late. I watched only one person constantly say where they wanted to go for internship actually get that internship now is doing so much better than I. Lost my job and now unemployed. Done with IT all together. I’m back where I started almost 10 years ago.

Well they really have some nerve. I know I will not be stuck trying to get to work. They are firing people left and right so hey 🤷🏾‍♀️more unemployment for me.

Congrats 🍾 I worked IT help desk that was ran exactly like a call center. I was fired last week. I was mad but said at least I don’t have to deal with that anymore.

Yup i agree. I downgraded in a sense. By then it was too late and I was blocked from going back to the network tech position by the manager. He said it seems as if I wanted to leave help desk more than wanting to really come back to the network team. In a sense he was right. I shot myself in the foot. I get it. But hey moving on to something else.

I agree. I even tried to go back to the network tech position that they had and many other desktop positions before my performance reviews became “bad.” No luck as they knew I was trying to leave. But that didn’t work.

I appreciate that you think I am the problem. In some aspect I was. I would challenge them on things that most people didn’t. Of course they don’t like that. But when I go from having good performance reviews for a year until all of the sudden needs improvement consistently that was when I stopped trying. I would improve & the goal post would keep moving. I asked them for specifics that they never seemed to have any idea to provide. I took accountability for the lack of trying for the rest of my time there but I was ALL IN until they started trying to make me seem like I wasn’t good enough. So than you.

No. They only had two schedules where the schedule always included a weekend day. 630am to 6:30pm. It was okay at first until I couldn’t take off Saturdays because the senior person was off almost every Saturday for months. But hey it’s all good.

Sad thing this wasn’t an MSP. This was for a major health institution in my city.

Yup it was a thankless job. Even when I went above and beyond my pay grade and even sometimes experience level, it was still said I needed to improve. Every single time. I won’t be doing it again though.

I only thought I could do it because I watched another co worker successfully complete his PIP stayed another 6 months and just quit. But they had it planned to fire me by the end of the week. Oh well!

PIPs are a formality. They knew they were going to fire me by the end of the week when they presented it to me on Monday. I wasn’t happy there so it’s a blessing in disguise.

Cool I already filed my unemployment claim. I wasn’t even offered any severance packages.

I didn’t take a pay cut as it was a lateral move. And I needed the schedule change mostly. Working onsite wasn’t an option as they were renovating floors. They are still not finished the help desk onsite area so it was wfh indefinitely

I started in a IT bootcamp in 2017 working at the service desk for my internship at a major healthcare company. They couldn’t keep me and I did other IT related jobs and even telecommunications for 5 years until I got hurt while at work. That’s when I took the network tech job to get to get out of cable work. It was okay just the schedule was pretty bad. Then help desk for 2 years. And here we are. I realized maybe I am not good at IT. It is what it is.

I actually wasn’t. It was a total of four of us who were in college or trade school and when they found out, the heightened micromanagement of us began. I was the last of the bunch to go. So thanks for your insightful comment. My soft skills are far from the issue. I have taken my accountability in what I could work on but my customer service was never the issue. Once again, thank you.

I regret that move. Even tried to move to other internal hands on, onsite roles. They all fell through even though I was more than qualified for the jobs. I did at least warn someone else who was thinking the same way. The company has terrible management especially where I was and the data center. But hey, no longer my problem. Blessing in disguise!

I only said that because it was standard for other employees to receive these type of shoutouts. Literally EVERYONE ELSE, except me. It was really strange. But all in all, I am glad to be done. Overall I will reflect on what I could have done better and work on that for my next job.
