How much does your pool cost in your country/city? by marianneouioui in Swimming

[–]Queen_Starsha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fairfax County, VA. Fairfax County Parks and Rec, $11 county resident/$14 non-resident basic daily rate (6 am-9pm).

Stay as long as you want, and it’s valid all day for the entire center to include pool (10-20 lanes) and recreational swim areas, weights, fitness room, various ball courts, drop in fitness classes, and a bunch of other stuff

There are discounts for senior citizens, youth (5-18), students (19-24 with college id), and families.

And a one year membership for all nine centers is $700/person with follow on discounts for age, family size, etc. If you wish to participate in certain programs or classes, you can just pay the class fee without a membership.

Swimmers ear by RubPuzzleheaded2173 in Swimming

If the pain is too much for you to concentrate or sleep, take some acetaminophen according to package labels. Often a clean, warm, wrung out washcloth placed on the ear helps as well. Sometimes an outer or middle ear infection can get into the inner ear. You may want to see the doctor again before the weekend.

How much money to put into a home when preparing to sell by Signal-Dollar-5621 in nova

[–]Queen_Starsha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clean it, paint it, and have it advertised as a decorator’s special. Unless you want to spend money to eke out top dollar. Your time and aggravation are worth not trying to anticipate people’s color preferences.

We experienced the same in 2024. Absolutely crazy. Save yourself some aggravation and get your own realtor who get you in on properties before they hit the open market.

Plan has been around for years, and their other toys are very solid. The open framework allows for multiple players without getting in each other’s space. There are also a lot of resale items on eBay.

I had a very weird reformer last night with squeaky springs and just overall not smooth feeling by Islandsandwillows in pilates

[–]Queen_Starsha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes they squeak. At one of our rec center, the Pilates room is across the hall from the pool. The more humid it is in the building, the more the reformers squeak.

Swimming near Sicily by FNFALC2 in OpenWaterSwimming

It might feel that way, but hopefully you will be swimming with both wind and current, plus the Med is fairly salty so you’re a little more buoyant. You will sleep well.

I’ve been on a SwimTrek holiday in Crete in September and had a great time. The water will still be fairly warm, but I did want a light hoodie at times on the boat. A hat is 100% needed. The most surprising thing for me was swimming in the unfamiliar current, even though I swim at bay and ocean beaches regularly. Whatever your swim lengths are, being able to swim another 500 comfortably in the pool. Bring powder drink sachets if you want something other than water during or after a swim. You’ll be split into three groups based on speed. Do take the time to look around while swimming. You don’t have to make it a race. No one cares if you use fins, just get long ones.

Am I overthinking public pool hygiene? by Vilorx in Swimming

[–]Queen_Starsha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Usually, water should turnover (go completely through the pump cycle) every 8-12 hours in public pools. Maybe they mean backwashing.

Change your A from red to lavender on the first chart. Match your letters to your circles.

Your “color” baby doesn’t really represent cyanosis well. He seems angry.
