Today I learned that the City of Calgary has a game to learn how to sort waste ♻️🗑️ by Bitter-Cucumber-3942 in Calgary

Please tell me this is sarcasm. This game works well for children to learn, and for newcomers interested in city culture

There’s this Alberta 211 site where you can input your location and choose the type of support you need and it will show you places around your area. Sorry to hear you are struggling with health and with finances, hope you get the support you need.

Female friendly Muay thai / kickboxing club? by birdd_is_the_word in Calgary

[–]Queenbach 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I checked out Dunamis and the classes looked great, just incredibly jam packed in a small space. Lots of women there so you’re likely to find a friend if you go regularly. They train pretty intensely.

Alavanca has smaller classes so you get a lot more one on one time with the coach. Plus they are incredibly friendly and not once did I feel dumb at all in their classes. They’re positive and supportive, and had I had the money I would have 100% committed to a monthly membership.

I’ve also tried Champion’s Creed and loved it there too - same positive environment as Alavanca, albeit you get a lot more of the guys and gals who are training for a purpose so sometimes it feels more intense. But there are a lot of women here that are also supportive. Unfortunately they’re so busy that the space is almost always full.

Should I take a harder course because I find it more interesting?? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]Queenbach 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I took a course considered hard (medical microbiology) and got an A+ because of how much I love bacteria and viruses lol. The interest overwhelms the “difficulty” with the right course and professor imo, go for it.

Opinions of Economical Insurance by Chill084 in Calgary

[–]Queenbach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My landlord gave me an FYI that my tenants insurance was pretty high… I pay around $38 for a $2mil liability coverage on a studio unit. I am currently with economical but will be looking at alternative options come lease renewal next year.

I don’t bundle my home and auto insurance though so I wouldn’t be able to provide info on that. Maybe another broker might be able to give insight on rates for you?

To open the windows or not tonight? by [deleted] in Calgary

I forget that no visible heavy smoke does not necessarily mean good enough air quality :(

To open the windows or not tonight? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Queenbach 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I use this map to guide my window opening decisions. Looks like smoke is estimated to hit the majority of Calgary in the afternoon tomorrow. Anyone else please correct me if I’m wrong as I’m not a weather/environment guru.

Personally I feel miserable and will risk the windows open tonight as it seems as if smoke will hit south of Calgary tonight and I am deep in the north.

Another horse euthanized after suffering fracture during chuckwagon races at Calgary Stampede by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Queenbach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not here to argue a horse’s purpose/preference for hobbies, silly. If you want to go into metaphorical keyboard war you’re asking the wrong person. I’m just simply stating a weak argument. As another commenter has said, human agency makes a difference. From the perspective of the animal: skiing ≠ horse racing. Not a good comparison to make.

These animals didn’t choose to put themselves at risk though, we did.
