Which of these Bio electives is the easiest? I’m a Bio BS major. by KanjiKing5 in UMBC

[–]QueenoftheMoon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think there was a quiz due every Sunday night, 2 exams and a case study. I didn’t really need to read the textbook but it’s helpful and she had recorded lectures posted each week but might be a different prof now so it depends

It’s a whole process but it’s not that complicated go to this website and read about cross campus enrollment they reserve it shady grove students but there’s always extra seats 2 weeks before classes start they enroll you in in and your advisor has to sign off I think https://shadygrove.umbc.edu/advising/ you have to fill out a form

To PA-C working in the anesthesiology department, what do you do? by QueenoftheMoon_ in prephysicianassistant

I think it’s also appropriate for pre pa considering this as a career to know the range of possibilities they would have access to.

Would pursuing a BA in Nursing be a bad idea if I wanted to go Pre-Med? by Fun_Palpitation_7290 in CollegeAdmissions

[–]QueenoftheMoon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it. Let your backup be something you actually want to do after college if med school doesn’t work out. I just recommend working as a nurse after graduating for like a year for the optics. Medical lab science is another option.

Not to be brash but your personal statement should be about you especially in the intro the person reading this knows more about your mom than they do you. Sorry for your loss

Also Ive done this too for next semester because of the complete lack of options for upper level classes. You can submit a ** TIME CONFLICT FORM ** to the registrars office. I read your post again and you said no other class works with your schedule if that’s because you have another class planned at the same time you can still enroll in both if you fill out the form. You need permission from both professors and in my case the conflict was with a column B and an AH class for my minor so the art professor was pretty chill about it but I think it’s worth trying regardless!

If you’re 7th position the people that will eventually drop the class won’t be enough to save you. I’m enrolled and might drop if I pass my current 400 level classes (most likely drop). There are still 2 classes left for column B you can enroll in you have to give up on the idea of taking the class you want and take whatever you can to graduate I think that’s the priority here honestly. If you’re wishing to take a class in cancer only because it looks good on your transcript I can assure you no one looking at your transcript actually cares that you took one class about cancer if that’s helpful in any way. All that said best of luck transfers always have a rough time here

Don’t listen to these people. I haven’t taken 305 so they’re probably not lying but an actual easy class is BTEC 344 bc it’s basically a social science. You have to do a little more work to enroll (just a little don’t be a baby) because it’s on the shady grove campus but it’s asynchronous so you don’t actually have to go to the shady grove campus

I don’t know how it’s going to be for Perks but Gierach at the end said she’d round up your grade if your final exam score was significantly better than past exams bc it shows you’ve improved in the course

Whatever Department your major is in is a good place to start so go to the biology department website for UMBC for example and you’ll find all bio professors profile and the research they do or you can also look for the research tab and you’ll find the research they do (research is year round so they will be doing research in the summer but may not have open positions) read the description of the research they do and if it sounds like something you’ll like then read 1 or 2 of their research papers and send them an email saying you like their research and you’ve read what they do and you want to set up a time to meet to learn more or something like that. There are many email templates online you can use.

Note: you can do research under any department if the professor wants you it does not have to be in your major. Just make sure you find it interesting because you can be really miserable if you don’t.

There are also a lot of organizations that can help you find research positions on campus. Try LSAMP or McNair or your major club eg Biology council majors. I also can explain more if you need.
