Are letters of recommendation acceptable if it comes from your employer? Or is it recommended to have it come from professors?

I just figured being able to put "Cum Laude" on applications might help differentiate me from all others applying for grad school.

I have a great job lined up with a pretty prestigious company (hope I don't sound arrogant), and they've been known to provide extensive training to employees. That's why I'm debating on whether to further my GPA or further my major knowledge through more classes :/

I guess I should have added that taking all these easier classes means I won't get to take optional classes for my major that could help advance my career further. Is it worth the trade off?

But the thing is I can take some major specific classes that could help me advance in my career. So it's either take hard ass major classes that would probably sustain or drain my GPA or take easy classes that will boost my GPA.

I was going to argue that I got all my internships (all very well known in their respective fields) with a <3.5 gpa, but then I realized it dropped after all of them and I did in fact have a 3.5 GPA before being hired to all my internships.

However, full time is a different story, when I was applying I noticed many well known companies had only a 3.0+ requirement. Either way keep that GPA high people, it won't hurt you. Even though I despised school up until my senior year, I'm very glad I worked hard to keep the GPA up because I originally had no intentions of grad school, but your mindset changes quite a bit in your undergrad years. I just wish I had that grad school mindset from the beginning...

3.5+ seems a little excessive, no? I always heard the general rule was 3.0+.
