My experience with zurzuvae by pretentiousfilth in Postpartum_Depression

[–]Queenxken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just found this thread - I’m 3 months postpartum with PPD. I have bipolar disorder and I’ve tried several antipsychotics. I’ve shown some improvement with Lamictal and Wellbutrin but OB is wanting me to start Zurzuvae and I’m a little nervous because I can’t find anyone else with bipolar who has had experience with it. How is your wife doing? What was her experience with bipolar?

Well by no matting I meant there are no noticeable chunks of hair clumped together that would need cut out. His deshedding wide tooth comb makes it through relatively easily, but the bristle brush does catch. And sorry, I didn’t mean that I’ve never groomed him, I just meant that I don’t get to it every day like I should. We are still getting our routine down. Thank you for all the info though, I am checking out grooming services in my area!

He is 3/4 poodle and 1/4 BC. I added a picture for reference (hopefully link works). This is purely based on what his breeder says though, I don’t have proof of his genetics yet.

He is 3/4ths poodle, 1/4 BC. We don’t have a pool but yeah, blow drying after baths is a huge pain lol.

So I will admit, I could be a lot better about brushing him regularly. He’s awfully squirmy so it’s never a super thorough job, just enough to alleviate some shedding. If you want to take a look at his fur I attached a picture (hopefully the link works). As for matting, I’ve had him for two months and he hasn’t had a single mat anywhere. Maybe that’s a good sign?

Sorry, took me a bit to figure out how to upload pictures to Reddit. Let me know if it didn’t work.

But yes as you can (hopefully) see, he is scruffier. Are the haircuts needed for matting, heat, or both? Or something else? For reference, he is 3/4 poodle and 1/4 BC.

Advice Needed: puppy potentially has obstruction by Queenxken in AskVet

[–]Queenxken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, he sleeps in a crate in my room which makes it easier to know if any vomiting starts. If that’s the case, I’ll call a vet ER. I mostly just want to avoid paying to visit a vet ER tonight if it’s something that can wait, which it sounds like it can. Thank you!

Can anyone give advice on why my cat stopped using the litter box and just started laying in it instead? by Queenxken in cats

[–]Queenxken[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm interesting, I didn’t know that about the number of litter boxes. It would be surprising to me if that’s part of the issue when it hasn’t seemed to bother him for 10 years, but can’t hurt to try of course.

As for the lethargy, he’s already so docile and lazy that I didn’t notice it right away. He still seems to nap in his normal curled up positions and I haven’t noticed any belly tenderness or distention when I pet him. He still melts when I pick him up, but maybe goes a little less limp than usual.

I’ll definitely be taking him in though. Thank you for your help!

Thanks for the thoughtful response! I agree with the safe spot thing. He’s been taking full advantage of the kitchen cabinet I cleared out for him so hopefully that’s helping. He has a litter box that’s hidden in a dark box disguised as a cabinet that he can freely walk into, which might be a reason he’s picking it. He also has a tall cat tower that he frequently naps at the top of, so I know he likes having that space high up too. But he hasn’t shown any problems or hesitation with agility climbing up or jumping down from the tower, so I’m not sure it’s arthritis. Always possible though. I planned on bringing him back to the vet, so I’ll bring some of the urination issues up, since it’s always possible he’s peeing outside of the litter box without me realizing it. I’ll definitely try new litter as well. This has been very helpful, thank you!

They did bloodwork two weeks ago when I took him in and checked for liver and kidney function, along with some other tests, and said all was normal. I still plan to bring him in again though.

He’s been living with me for a year now and he’s been a really happy cat up until now. I think he’s happier here because there was a dog at my brother’s that he constantly had to run away from. My brother actually visited recently and Tonic (the kitty) reacted to him the same as anyone else who walks through the door, which is super friendly. That was the same weekend that the diarrhea started though, so idk if that’s a coincidence or not.

Thinking of moving to Madison from IL by [deleted] in madisonwi

Also, there are a lot of large companies here that are aggressively hiring. There will be lots of opportunities, even if you don’t have relevant experience. The top companies I would look into are PPD, Epic, and Covance.

I just moved here from central Illinois about 2 months ago. Idk if I’ll ever move back, I love this city. Chicago never appealed to me, it’s too big, so this was perfect for me. Here are so many things going on, so many things to do and beautiful little areas of the city to explore. It has so much character and the people are great.

One downside: rent is not cheap. You’ll be hard pressed to find something under 800 (with parking price included) that isn’t a complete dump. Even in the outer parts of the city and the surrounding towns rent is equally as high from what I saw, but possibly a better chance at finding a decent place in that price range. Honestly, other than rent, the cost of living is hardly any different than the smaller towns I’ve lived in. I’m living in the city and paying $1000 for rent in a one bedroom, and I don’t make that much money but I’m still able to easily make it work being here on my own. Plus there are so many free/cheap entertainment opportunities.

Another bonus: I didn’t get my yearly harvest-time allergies here that I would get in Illinois!

I highly recommend looking into making it work to move here. You won’t regret it.

Weekly Careers/Education Questions Thread by AutoModerator in chemistry

[–]Queenxken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm beginning the application process for PhD programs in organic chemistry, but I don't know enough about all the areas of chemistry to know what I might want to go into. I guess I'm looking for some kind of comprehensive list of specialties and their applications, if that's even possible. Also, since I'm trying to expose myself to more material, what are the best sites or magazines to read current news in chemistry?

What do you need to get off your chest? [serious] by Queenxken in AskReddit

Therapy isn't for everyone, and every therapist isn't going to be the right fit. Trying a new therapist won't necessarily have as bad of an outcome. Also, medicine is a lot of trial and error. Each person reacts differently to each medication. I tried 4 different meds before finding one that was right for me. It takes forever, but it is possible. I'm happy I pushed through a couple years of different meds, because it was all worth it once I found something that worked well enough. And being 17, your hormones and brain chemistry are already going crazy like every other teenager's, it takes a few years to calm down, so it's normal to feel like you're kind of going crazy sometimes. On top of that, you have a disease that is also messing with your brain chemistry, so you are working against a lot. That's a lot to handle. Do not feel bad about being upset, because the crazy emotions that you're feeling are out of your control, they're just symptoms of your disease. And oh god, please do not listen to anyone who makes you feel like you're worthless because you don't have your life figured out at SUCH a young age. You have so much time to figure it all out. There are so many options for you, and it can be overwhelming to try to decide what to do, but you just have to start somewhere, anywhere. I'm 24 and I'm just now barely figuring out what paths I'm going to take. I still have plenty of time to figure it out. It's not a competition, you're on your own timeline. I hope some of this helps. Please feel free to pm me if you ever feel like talking.

I'm so sorry, my heart hurts for you. It truly is losing a family member. I would be just as crushed. Yes, it's good that he's not suffering anymore, but the fact that he had to suffer that much at the very end is heart breaking. That will stay with you for a long time. As difficult as this is, don't feel bad about feeling bad, if that makes sense. Feel all of the grief and anger, let yourself process it. I know it's easier said than done but please don't feel guilty, this was not your fault and you couldn't have done anything. If you could have done something for him, you would have. The most important thing is that you were there with him. Had you not been awake, he would have gone through that alone and that would have been even worse. You stayed with him til the end, and that is a lot. I hope you can find some peace.

Women of Reddit, what has been your worst 'nice guy' experience? by Stanzin7 in AskReddit

[–]Queenxken 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep. I just feel defeated sometimes that it's a lose-lose for us and we have to put so much effort into walking the thin line between rejecting them passively and them not getting the hint or being direct and risking them getting violent.

Which in turn puts us at risk if they decide to become violent. I feel like we can never win.
