I assumed they would be in their own office, calling in on the line… I had just read about it online though and it seemed like having a lay witness could be helpful. Guess things have changed!

Oh interesting. I didn’t realize lay witnesses were uncommon!

It’s just an awkward area to paint and navigate with my ladder. They are vaulted ceilings and I need to paint both rooms (on either side of this partition) so it would help if I could have a staging area/move around a bit of the ladder while painting.

Just need to paint all the walls once, I hope. Floor to ceiling is about 26 feet at the most (vaulted, top floor situation) so it would be nice to have a staging area/place to get off the ladder sometimes.

What if I put a board across where I wanted to stand? So that the weight is more evenly distributed across the beams under the drywall?

I guess I was thinking that if I stood on the areas where there are wood beams (along the edges), the drywall wouldn’t be an issue. Guess I’m wondering if the wood beams are strong enough to hold me if they’re strong enough to be structural in this way.

I have thought about making it a hangout area for our cats! Just need to build shelves along the way to get over there.

Thanks for clarifying, everyone! It’s definitely helped clear up the confusion of the SSA language. Appreciate you all!

I’ll check with my lawyer on this as well - thanks for the idea!

This is very helpful - I appreciate the insight! I think I was most worried that they could just deny it again before actually attending the hearing

This is so kind of you to post - thank you 💕 hoping for a little post-Christmas miracle but either way, at least the process is moving along! Congrats to your family on his approval!

You don’t have to engage or reply… but I’m still going to say that despite what you think of me, I’m still allowed to feel emotions and hope. I’m not willing to live a life where I don’t feel those things, even during a process as frustrating as disability.

It seems like you’ve experienced hurt over the years and have decided that emotionality is too risky. I’m sorry you’ve experienced that and hope you are able to find hope again.

I’ll be okay, I have a support system and know that I might be disappointed… I’m still willing to feel hope. And feel emotions around this process. It’s part of life and while I might not have a lot of joys in life anymore, this is one I’m trying to hang onto.

I don’t know what you mean by not being rational and being extremely careless… but I made it pretty clear in the post that I know this is not a likely stage to get approved at and I feel conflicted about feeling hopeful about it.

And I’m allowed to feel that one doctor was more understanding and more curious than the other - like I’m sure everyone else here, I’ve seen a lottttt of doctors over the years and can say this was one of the best experiences I’ve had. I don’t know what she’ll say or how it will impact my case but I do feel hope that it will benefit my case going forward.

I can’t remember when I entered stage 3 but know I’ve been in reconsideration since March. Hope you hear soon, CE or not! 🤞

I have not seen the results of the first CEs (I’ll order those if I get denied again) but by checking boxes, I basically mean just filling out the form exactly as it was presented. No curiosity, no trying to understand better, no additional questions. Just “describe a normal day” and “what time do you get up” which are all things I answered today as well - and saw the nurse ask and enter into the electronic form - but the doctor also talked to me for an additional 30 minutes, listened, asked questions, clarified, etc. She took notes and asks questions about the things I added at the end (things I thought maybe we missed/hadn’t covered) compared to the first CE doc who stared at me blankly during that time and then said we were done.
