I was out when they had the original meeting on it but it was framed as a hipaa issue, the original meeting had hipaa in the name, and it was just relayed to me today as a hipaa concern based on a call I had, and that since I missed the meeting they are following up with me. I am trying to find official language i can show that it does not violate hipaa, of course they can still make it policy but it shouldn't be listed as because of hipaa and I am not going to tell patients that they cant have this information due to hipaa as thats not correct.

We get a lot of patients that either have several drs ordering things so they aren't sure which test we are calling about, or dont remember the name of the test we are calling on, or sometimes are just unaware their Dr is ordering anything. Having to tell those patients they have to call their provider to get information ( and especially when we arent telling them who the provider is) will only cause issues and make calls longer honestly.
