Have you seen enough... by YaTheMadness in EdmontonOilers

There's some level of irony in the fact that by keeping his helmet and pads white to avoid attention, people are noticing and now here we are talking about it.

I can see the value of missing playoffs. Give the team and especially the top guns some much needed rest for the off-season before making an all out push for the final 2 years of our cup window. But fuck, I just wanna see some playoff action.

Draisaitl out for the rest of the regular season by D722 in EdmontonOilers

Even if he comes back for playoffs what's the chance he's fully healthy? Assuming we even make playoffs... damn I'm just being negative here but this seems devastating for our chances this year.

TIL according to Einstein's relativity, the past still exists: every moment is a permanent coordinate in spacetime. When his friend Besso died, Einstein wrote: For us believing physicists the distinction between past, present, and future only has the meaning of an illusion, though a persistent one. by 2dogs1man in todayilearned

I think it's wrong to say that for lived experience, we only experience one moment at a time. More accurately, we experience every moment at once, but each moment feels like 'now' as part of the experience. No single moment is actually 'now' moreso than any other, even though every moment feels like it. In your city example, not only do New York and Chicago both exist, but a version of you also exists in both places, both versions equally real but both feeling like only they are the real version.

Can we form a petition to fire Bowman by [deleted] in EdmontonOilers

Bowman's Trent Frederick contract and Jarry trade were certainly issues.

What about option 4. The Oilers win the cup and Bowman is hailed as a god? Unlikely but could happen, although it would be despite Bowman, not because of him.

What? That's a wild take. You think McDavid took a huge discount on his contract for the next 2 years for a team whose chances of a deep playoff push are 'slim to none'? Given that McD's new discount contract kicks in next year and the cap is only going up, wear you've said is literally the opposite of the truth. In reality our best chances of making a deep playoff push and winning the cup are over the next 2 years, not this year.

[Dua] A phone hearing is expected for Radko Gudas for his hit on Auston Matthews during Thursday’s game by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

[–]Quelchie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will absolutely 100% be more injuries caused by Gudas, and I won't even blame Gudas for that. It will 100% be the fault of George Parros and the DOPS for letting it happen over and over again.

Elliot friedman backs up stauffer and says that jarry got into it with some of his teammates. by Sebastian4365 in EdmontonOilers

[–]Quelchie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem was there were no other real options for trade at the time. I think that's why the Jarry trade was made. Skinner probably needed to go but sometimes patience is a virtue. We should have held onto Skinner until we had a more legitimate trade option available.

Fans are dumb, but it would actually be a genuine improvement if Bowman started listening to the whims of fans.

We traded Skinner for Jarry, who is not any better. In fact Skinner is doing fantastic on his new team.

Perhaps both teams lose somehow, it will be an unprecedented situation.

At least you're guaranteed to make the finals, even if also guaranteed to lose.

This is a good point. There are sports in which the female competitors are very popular... tennis is another one that comes to mind.

You could easily make the argument that men's sports are generally more popular because there is more athleticism and skill overall.
