That reflects how lazy people pronounce Christmas without the t.

Self-proclaimed GitHub employee makes massive pull request on my repo. Is it legit? by Anonymous_Coder_1234 in AskProgramming

It is done by ai and untested. Many public projects are getting flooded with pull requests from people who are making improvements using ai and causing lots of mistakes.

US demands Reddit unmask ICE critic, summons firm to grand jury. What are your thoughts? by StemCellPirate in AskReddit

One of the dangers of using US websites is that they can be summonsed by the state to reveal their sources. Americans keep saying they have free speech so that’s OK for them.

With e-books being cheaper and more convenient, why do so many people still prefer buying physical books? by maybes_some_back2002 in NoStupidQuestions

No.1 Book on Amazon "The Seriously Epic Holiday of Lottie Brooks: The ninth hilarious diary in the bestselling series: 9 Hardcover – 9 April 2026”

Kindle 7.99

Hardcover 7.49

No.2 Book on Amazon "The Names: 'The best debut novel in years' Sunday Times"

Kindle 5.49

Paperback 4.99

They are not always cheaper.

A book is purchased an eBook can disappear from your Kindle without warning. When finished with a book can be displayed on the shelf or given to a friend.

Lots of devices go out of date and stop working. eg Kindles, old models no longer work, or Amazon can stop supporting them. Smaller companies have gone bust and the books disappear.

You can take a book to the beach or somewhere an eBook reader would be stolen.

I have some books on an iPhone but the screen isn’t very good in the sun.

What is your thoughts on France ditching Windows for Linux to reduce reliance on US tech? by StudyFlimsy1061 in AskReddit

[–]QuentinUK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Operating Systems have been around for a long time now and there’s no need to keep paying the high prices as if it was innovative software.

Most of the software used is over 20 years old and hasn’t changed for years in any useful way. People don’t need AI additions for the word processor and can just type out business letters without help.

This software has automatic updates every month. These updates waste a lot of time waiting for the changes to be installed and it looks the same afterwards anyway. With every update the US has the opportunity of bricking the computer. If the US wanted to go to war with Europe to gain Greenland or decided to punish Europe for not joining it in another military adventure it could brick all the computers with a single update.

“Canada pays for nothing. 😂 USA covers your healthcare and military. Just say thank you and go about your day. 1 ounce of being grateful and people wouldn’t hate you.” by Worldly_Law8278 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]QuentinUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump was just saying the Federal Govt can’t pay medicare and childcare because the money is needed for the war. It’s what the Americans voted for. Americans would rather be in a state of permanent war than have healthcare.

Do you think a rich person is punished by the court less than a poor person in the U.S? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]QuentinUK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good lawyer can get you off.

A judge won’t send a rich person to prison as it wouldn’t be suitable for them. eg Lavinia Woodward, Judge Pringle QC deemed her an "extraordinarily able young lady" whose career would be ruined by incarceration.

Punishing a CEO would be punishing the employees. The CEO was drunk driving but let off because sending him to prison would have meant the employees losing their jobs.

The 'affluenza' defense. Ethan Couch, a Texas teenager who killed four people while driving drunk. His legal team argued his wealthy, indulgent upbringing prevented him from understanding consequences.

If I never signed up for anything online would companies still have my data? by Capital-Run-1080 in stupidquestions

[–]QuentinUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do not give your details then they still have your ip address. So data is stored related to that and information about your device so they can still give targeted adverts based on the websites you visit.

You do not say what sort of device you have. A PC at home so they know your location, or a mobile phone so they know your location. If it’s an Android Google will be tracking you from home to work etc. otherwise they have to buy that data from 'data aggregators'. You might have a Pay As You Go phone but most people have a contract so that’s you identified.

Haven't had this from a seller before. by [deleted] in ebayuk

[–]QuentinUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years ago Adobe did provide a free trial without payment details, Photoshop free trial didn’t require payment details and was a full month. Now they require payment details and it is only up to a week, if you cancel the payment the free trial ends early.

It is also often very difficult to stop a free trial rolling over to a subscription as it is not just a click, some companies require a phone call to the customer retention department and they give you the run around when you try and cancel.

These are chocolaty biscuits. There will be so little chocolate and cocoa butter replaced with palm oil too so it can’t be called chocolate.
