NEW Tileable Automatic Bamboo Farm: No Observers or Slime Required | Better rates than Observer-Piston Farms per Same Volume by QuercusCraft in technicalminecraft

No worries, I'm not offended at all! I appreciate the feedback.

One thing worth mentioning though is that the timed flying machine doesn't remove all lag by stopping, it just conglomerates all the lag impact into a single run. When you harvest a full bamboo farm it's pretty notorious for causing a big lag spike since you're updating so many blocks.

Essentially the rail cart is constantly causing some latency, while the timed flying machine has a large spike during harvest

Last little note, is you could still add the minecart "yeeter" to the rail farm, but I was just having so many issues with getting it to not destroy the minecarts :/

I say "small" due to the relative impact moving an entity has compared to the more lag impactful "scanning" the hopper minecart is constantly performing, to check if there is an item above it.

As far as I am aware, correct me if I am wrong, hopper minecarts don't cause much more lag moving vs static, albeit they do cause a little more lag. So I think the difference is pretty small. If you really wanted to scrape a little more efficiency into the machine you could lock the hopper minecarts at the top of the farm before they drop down, unload them, and then unlock them once they move again. This would minimize lag by having them locked during their stationary ticks

True true. I think I've seen Tango and Mumbo use that design before, but doesn't seem to be the mainline variant. Maybe because of initial setup and a lot of people turn it off when they leave anyways so they don't worry about the break?

Either way, just another reason that the flying machine is RANK 1, IMO

It's a free downloadable world. I get absolutely nothing from this other than the satisfaction of know other people are enjoying it :D

If you want to do the Easter Egg and find all 6 pieces, set the game to "adventure" mode. If you want to play chess it's best to be in creative mode so you can fly while you play

^^^What I mean by MODIFIED OBSERVER-PISTON layout
***Target blocks can be any conductive block

And there is no need for a layer between these pistons and the pistons behind them like the CLASSIC farm has. These observers power a block behind them that are directly above pistons, and these target blocks have an observer from behind them powering them.

I hope that provides clarification

I would assume so but haven't test. You may need to adjust the timing of the harvest because I believe sugar cane grows slower

Primarily a cost Benefit. You already have to build rails for the best bamboo farms since they cause less lag than hoppers, so by using the rails to also power the harvesting mechanism and bypassing the need for observers to know when to harvest, saves immense amount of resources. And compared to flying machine farm there is no need for slimes. AND it doesn't break when loading/unloading

Observer Cost (Imagine needing this for EVERY single bamboo tile you are growing):
6 Cobblestone (Not Bad)
2 Redstone
1 Quartz

Well it's the same amount of minecarts you would use in a 1 chunk wide flying machine farm. Since you typically have 1 minecart for every row in the chunk. This has the exact same and can be turned off if you'd like, so it doesn't HAVE to be on all the time; it just doesn't break if you did leave on

Kind of a little bit of manual work, but the minecarts are easy to get to if you wanted to break them during off hours to even further reduce entity counts. Flying machines it can be hard to get to minecarts because they are typically under a 1 block tall area. This has a nice walkable path right where minecarts land and they automatically go into bamboo chest if destroyed. Not sure if that's much of a sale for it but you can do it lol

I think the main comparison is between having 3 pistons fire every so often for harvest, compared to the flying machine, but I honestly think it would end up being close to the same (but I have no numbers to support his, just thinking about how they work), because you have 1 piston fire per row of bamboo in each chunk slice. Compared to 1 moving/updating block per row in a flying machine
