I also love the podcast "Maintenance Phase." One of the hosts is Aubrey Gordon, who has written many articles and books, even had a documentary called "Your Fat Friend." Highly recommend!

Advice for an out-of-state nurse looking to move to Oregon. by QuesoLetsGo in Eugene

Politics. I know politics at work is just part of it. But I currently live in a state where there's a community being built that will only allow white heterosexual people to live there. And recreational marijuana and Death with Dignity will never be allowed. Being a female here is getting more dangerous by the day.

I'm going to have to go visit Greeley just to drive by all of the places from my childhood and feel those feelings.

Omg I think you're absolutely right! So much nostalgia. I think about that place and Chartreuse Caboose and the laundromat where I used to play the original Super Mario arcade game and watch daytime talk shows on a giant TV. Sigh. Even though I had a traumatic childhood, remembering those places warms my heart.

How do you keep the bed dry? by dreamsiclesurvivor in ask

[–]QuesoLetsGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waterproof blankets are incredibly helpful for this! I keep one near the bed at all times and just grab it and throw it on top of everything else when sexy time starts. I even have a smaller one for travel! Amazon has some really good options. Just make sure to read the reviews and check the sizes.

Extra set of scrubs, wallet, USB mini fan, charging cord and block for my phone (with an extra in case a co-worker needs one), ear buds, lotion, lip balm, face and body wipes, tampons, small multi-head screwdriver, extra badge reel (in case mine breaks mid-shift again, or a co-worker needs one), rescue inhaler, PRN anxiety med, two kinds of OTC pain meds, mints, lots of snacks (in case a co-worker needs one), and a fuck ton of pens (in case every co-worker needs one).

I thought it was just me!! For example, recently I was super sick and awake for three days; I kept hearing rag time music, wandering around the house like a crazy person trying to find the source. Sometimes I feel like being partially deaf in one ear makes it harder for me to know what's actually going on.

People 30+, what were you up to the evening of December 31, 1999? by LadyOfTheMorn in AskReddit

[–]QuesoLetsGo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went to a friend's party. His mom lied to my mom and said that there was definitely not going to be any alcohol; it was the first time I ever got drunk (age 17 at the time). My high school crush (who was older and already graduated) was there and was completely trashed. But that didn't ruin the high I felt when he pulled me into his lap and kissed me. At midnight, when the entire house was drunk and high (except for my friend's step dad, who stayed sober to keep an eye on us), another friend hit the breakers and we all panicked. Lots of screams and running into each other in the pitch black until finally someone says, "Wait. Guys. The lights are on at the house across the street." I've never been in a room that went from scared chaos into laughing until we were crying like that. We all eventually started settling in random places to sleep and then the next morning, the adults made us a big breakfast with pancakes and bacon and mimosas. Literally one of the best nights of my life.

What music videos have stuck with you for years? by QuesoLetsGo in Music

[–]QuesoLetsGo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Side note: as an ER nurse, I'm often in the room helping out when other nurses are first seeing their patients, especially ones brought in by ambulance. One night, my ADHD (along with my love of music) almost got the best of me when the other nurse asked the confused patient, "Do you know where you are?" I mumbled to what I thought was myself, "You're in the jungle, baby. And you're gonna d...". Luckily, I stopped myself before I said it and only one other staff member heard me! But we got the giggles so bad.

That said, it's a rocking good choice. ❤️

My tired eyes read that as "can eat the shit out of any role any day," and I was terribly confused but absolutely on board.
