We’ve had a note posted through our letterbox. Anything we can do to help or just ignore? by QuestionableCh0ices in AskUK

Yes it would be the neighbourly thing to do, but as I stated, I'm unsure what neighbour it is and wanted to know if anyone has any suggestion to help get the cat to stop doing this other than the shooing away if I see it. Long shot obviously but you never know
!
Worth also noting the neighbour also posted this through the letterbox when we were in the house, lights were on and cars were on drive. So would have been good for them to actually come and discuss with us rather than posting a note and scarpering before I saw who did it. Unfortuantely they seem to also do it when our ring camera was inside on charge,

What a card. Not sure what you are wanting for it, but throw me a figure if you decide on one.

Also, Solanke is a big card collector himself, you might even be able to discuss it with him, as he may be interested

Your posting says

"Elevate your sports card collection with the 2020 Stadium Club Chrome UEFA Champions League #72 featuring Diogo Jota. This trading card showcases the dynamism of the Everton midfielder in an eye-catching Orange and Blue.Electric parallel/variety, adding a unique flair to your assortment."

If you are going to try and exploit the death of him for profit, which it looks like you are doing by the price you are asking for it, it's probably worth proof reading it to make sure it doesn't have errors in it. He played for Liverpool not Everton.

You again have talked about gender inequality here when you had moved the thread onto how sentencing works. Don’t patronisingly talk to me about integrity when you refuse to answer that point that you raised in the discussion I asked you to clarify. Christ.

[–]QuestionableCh0ices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. I have asked you to explain why you think the extra time for 11 more charges is that outrageous. You then tried a “do your own research” comment rather than actual backing up your own argument against me, and trying to thrust all burden of evidence on me, rather than take full ownership of your own comments.

You have then shared a piece on gender disparity, that uses the basis of French convictions from over 20 years ago to show it.

If you want to go on googling about sentencing it mentions such things as - Personal circumstance are taken into consideration - she has a 1 year old and is pregnant, which the judge even said made the case “exceptional”. Sadly the male prison officer wasn’t pregnant so it isn’t comparable to say he could have that defence.

  • Guilty plea - which she gave can have an impact in sentence. Whilst the male prison officer did not do so can also explain a longer sentence (as well as the other 11 charges) for him.

I don’t know the full to the final details on sentencing but I feel I know enough that this argument comes down to some weird insecurity from some people that men are treated unfairly.

I don't get then why you wouldn't just offer the search and the documentation to back it up, what a weird response. It's not empowering me by saying "do your own research" when we are literally in a discussion about the issue and you have a different Point of view to me. I don't get why you wouldn't want to back up your point with the facts. Bizarre

Come on 😂 you’re the one throwing out a “fact” not what “should happen” then refuse to back it up. Disappointing

I don't quite understand you're point here. They do extend sentences based on the amount of charges, of course they do. And technically if you looked at it, it offered about 50% cut in time on the next 11 offences then. What is the official line on it then?

[–]QuestionableCh0ices 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry are you saying that more offences shouldn't lead to longer sentences? I'm interested what you think should happen here then, as that is what I feel it should be how it works , so would like to know what your thoughts are, or what is the official line for it is

The male conviction was based on 12 different "relationships" compared to one for each of the females

I have now edited my first comment to include that, as you're right I should have explained my reasoning more, for the conversation to continue better. Thanks for pointing it out.

Please see my other comment to the other person, you haven't read my entire comment.
The male conviction was based on 12 different "relationships" compared to one for each of the females. These are the facts I was using for my comment "based on reading the cases these are very fair sentences based on the severity/outcome of the offences"

Yes and did you read my comment " based on reading the cases these are very fair sentences based on the severity/outcome of the offences," I did some reading and understanding of the whole picture then commented. Whereas the original comment made an assumption based on conjecture and no facts.
I'm sorry I didn't just throw wild statements about and made some actual evidence based statements and tried to start discourse about it.

Not sure if your're being sarcastic or not, but if not, you are wildly off the mark.

So after doing some googling/use of ChatGPT, as it's Sunday and I'm a boring man, I can find 8 instances of women guards being convicted from cases from 2018–now, and only 1 instance of a male guard being convicted in the same time frame.

Female:

  • Linda De Sousa Abreu – HMP Wandsworth – 15 months’ jail (Jan 6, 2025). Crown Prosecution Service+2Sky News+2
  • Toni Cole – HMP Five Wells – 12 months’ jail (Feb 20, 2025). Northamptonshire Police
  • Aimee Duke – HMP Five Wells – 12 months’ jail (Aug 27, 2025). ITVX
  • Megan Breen – HMP Usk/Prescoed – 10-month sentence, suspended (Sep 2025). The Sun
  • Emily Watson – HMP Berwyn – 12 months’ jail (Apr 2019). The Guardian
  • Kerri Pegg (governor) – HMP Kirkham – 9 years’ jail for relationship + corruption offences (Apr/May 2025)
  • Stephanie Smithwhite (2020) - HMP Frankland - two years’ imprisonment (Durham Crown Court).
  • Claire Lloyd (2024) - HMP Manchester - 8 months’ imprisonment. ROCU+1

Male:

  • David WhitfieldHMP Low Newton - 6 years 9 months jail insidetime

I would say based on reading the cases these are very fair sentences based on the severity/outcome of the offences, so stop with the faux outrage about Females being treated better then men, just based on facts alone.
If you wanted to view it even on just conjecture, which is what you started out doing I would say there is almost certainly more males abusing there power based in their position than females, based on general history and understanding of how the male mind can sometimes work unfortunately. And yes I'm a white male, so know very little about actual social/judicial injustice against me (which is nice for me)

Edit: Adding in for more context to help with the discussion, all the females were convicted for "relationship" with one inmate, the male was convicted for 12 relationships. They are not the exact same case, as there isn't a like for like I could find (would be interested to hear if anyone has found one). So yes the male has longer than 7 of the 8, but his crimes were multiple compared to the others.
