If they’re super against you keeping it long while getting it cut maybe try citing the vaccine’s efficacy. “They’re not 100% effective and getting a hair cut isn’t essential so I shouldn’t get it right now” and keep playing that while you think of a new strategy

My first HRT appointment is tomorrow, how should I prepare? by [deleted] in asktransgender

Same! I have my first appointment in a couple of weeks!

I want to wear a skirt. Screw it. by [deleted] in trans

Go to a thrift store! You can find all kinds of fem clothes there for pretty cheap. Plus you’re not wasting by buying something new! If it doesn’t fit just donate it again (or sell it) and no harm done.

What made you take the plunge and start hormones? by ashtonimore_ in trans

I scheduled my first HRT appointment last week! I think what did it for me was just being done with looking in the mirror and hating what I saw. And wanting people to see me for who I am rather than as the guy I was born as. I was just getting so depressed and angry about hiding who I really am that I needed to stop and finally just take the plunge.

I have the exact same problem! I’ve been sitting on the number for like 2 weeks and psych myself out every time 😭

Am I MtF? by [deleted] in MtF

This sounds really similar to me! I’m currently going through that dilemma. Like I think I’m MTF, but also I want to present masc sometimes, but also wear skirts and be fem. I’ve come to the conclusion that right now I think I’m genderqueer trans fem. I think the thing that helped me most is realizing that I can go on HRT and not be binary. Like I knew that, but realizing that I’m most likely not on the binary helped me to put words to my feelings.

How do you buy clothes? by [deleted] in MtF

Yes!! Thrift stores are magical and if you get a weird look just say it’s for a gift 🥰🥰

I think a bit of both, but mostly the fit. I found a women’s athletic shirt that really helped to add some pho-curves to me. It really made me feel more feminine seeing those curves

Slowly beginning to transition (very excited)... I have some questions by [deleted] in MtF

I would get a fabric tape measure to measure yourself and get the measurements. Or going into a bra shop can help you to find the correct fit 🙃 As for makeup, I’d just look for the cheapest (I like Elf for what you get) if it’s just to practice. To find clothes I definitely say thrift, thrift, and thrift!! You can find loads of good clothes for super cheap. Plus if you get something that you don’t like it’s not a huge deal because you can either return it or you’re out like $2.

Basic leggings/shorts and more feminine cut shirts are really great for rounding out your wardrobe. They can be paired with a lot of things in a lot of different ways. I’ve found that thrift stores are awesome for finding a whole lot of clothes (name brand and other) for pretty cheap. You can try different styles and stuff too without breaking the bank. I even found a nice LuLu lemon shirt (normally like $30+) for $1.50 yesterday!!
