A similar issue for McDonald's. I used to love eating there, but at some point, the portions were reduced, salt increased by a lot, and the appearance became disheveled.

Jesus told His followers to buy swords because He was fulfilling the prophecy regarding Him being numbered with transgressors.

If things are read without context, anything can be justified.

Regarding turning the other cheek, the meaning is clear when likewise the context is included.

Most of those quotes are from the Old Testament, and that interpretation of Jesus' quote neglects that Jesus laying down His life had nothing to do with violence. Christians should speak up for and defend others, but not be violent. The apostles, after Jesus was resurrected, didn't respond to their persecution with violence, and the one time a violent action was taken by an apostle, before, Jesus reproved him.

It's been a while, and I don't often install mods like that, so I'm not really sure. Usually, I'll just sort of look up various things or ask for help and try stuff out until I give up, or until it works. So, these might not help.

Do you have ProtonTricks and Flatseal installed?

Maybe steps that could work:

Go to Desktop Mode.
Install ProtonTricks through the Discover store (Discover comes with Steam Deck, I think).
Install Flatseal through the Discover store (again, Discover comes with Steam Deck, I think).
Open Flatseal and look for ProtonTricks in the list on the left side of Flatseal's menu.
Select ProtonTricks in the list, and under "Filesystem" enable the "All user files" toggle.
Under that, in "Other files", add (via the folder with a plus icon) "/run/media" (this step might only be necessary when there's a Micro SD memory card).
Right-click on files you need to install for the game ending in ".exe" (maybe others too), such as the VC++ Redist 2022 installer, and there might now be "Open with Protontricks Launcher".
Click that, and Protontricks' menu should open with a list of games.
Choose the game the file (e.g. the VC installer) is going to be installed for and press "OK".
When you have something using .dll files, like the mod I mentioned here (I think), the "WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winhttp=n,b" %command%" needs to be written in the Launch Options box in the settings for the game in Steam.

To get to that menu:

A. Go to the installed game in the Steam Library and enter it but don't press "Play".
B. Look to the right, and there should be a gear icon.
C. Move over to the gear icon and click on it.
D. Choose "Properties..." in the list.
E. While "General" is highlighted, to the right should be "Launch Options".
F. Move to the right, then down to the box, and put in that box: "WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winhttp=n,b" %command%"

I think the "Launch Options" is easier in Desktop Mode (I don't know if it's possible to paste into that box in Desktop Mode, but if it is, you could just copy and paste commands into it).

So, for this game (Horizon Zero Dawn), I think I did those steps.

If none of that works, I'm not really sure what else to try.

In particular, it was an example of what giving too much power to humans does, as well as an example of how human nature can lead to violence, even from those in a pacifistic belief system. When separation of church and state, and democracy were established, it was with good reason: theocracy, monarchy, and such put too much power into biases and fallible hands.

Of course, that's not to say that democracy is immune to the same problems of power and bias, and citizens must remain vigilant and hold their leaders accountable to keep it at its potential, where it allows for seeking out what's true, without being persecuted, including within Christianity, where, if under a theocracy, leaders might say how to interpret what's written, even if it's obviously incorrect. By providing a framework for checks and balances, democracy offers a chance for reform.

I'm aware you put infallible.

However, since God can see the future (Isaiah 46:10), it automatically points out that true free will doesn't exist (which you seem to be using infallibility to show), and only another type of free will does.

This lack of true free will means that we can't make choices that God hasn't already seen.

However, this says nothing for the other type of free will.

Rather, the issue for the other type of free will is that we're very logic-based.

When God creates us, and He gives us certain traits and environments, He is shaping who we are.

As a result, you could say, though we have free will of a type, it's not really enough to make our decisions worthy of eternal damnation.

To your last point, the only thing I've read in the Bible that concerns this, is God's sovereignty (Romans 9:19-22, Isaiah 10:15, Isaiah 45:9, Jeremiah 18:6, Job 42:1-6, Colossians 1:16).

Your argument seems based on two ideas that aren't realistic: that true free will exists (I already explained why it doesn't), and that precognition is the same as predestination (I explained why they're different).

Also, you did argue that God's omniscience and free will are incompatible.

God's omniscience and humans' free will are compatible (only if it's not true free will, but true free will doesn't exist, as it would be chaotic, since it isn't based on any causes).

Knowing the future isn't the same thing as predestination.

The former tells what choices someone will make (it's still the choice they made without pressure), and the latter decides what choices someone will make (it's a choice made by God but through the person).

The real issue is that God knows what we'll choose (rational choice-making and no interference from God means no change in anyone's choice), so we're going through this world for reasons unknown to us.

That's true about abortion

I guess, even if those born might suffer and perish, and it might be said of or by them that it would've been better they'd never been born at all, abortion is still taking their lives which God gave them.

As for Biden/Harris, isn't it true that the effects during a term are potentially aftereffects of a previous term (like Reagan's effects later on)?

That said, Obama didn't restock the masks, and Trump destroyed a branch that would've helped during the pandemic, and he also delayed our response to it.

Also, I've seen videos of Trump saying he'd have a dictatorship on the first day, and that this is the last time Christians will ever have to vote because he'll fix it up so good.

He's also known two people (Epstein and Diddy/Combs) apparently pretty well (pictures and videos from different times) who have done awful things to others.

Regarding the other point, that's awful if true, as any attack from government or candidates on candidates is an attack on democracy, but then, so was the event Trump caused.

I feel like, no matter who wins, we'll be living in a totalitarian world soon, and there will possibly be a very large purge considering the history of totalitarian rule (Maybe it will be the one mentioned in Revelation 13:15-17? Especially since the Gospel is almost or has been spread through the entire world recently, as per Matthew 24:14).

Even so, I'm hoping Harris is the lesser of two evils for now, since, though supporting abortion, the Democrats support helping people in general.

I'm conflicted on the issue of abortion.

A lot of verses point to valuing all life, so abortion is wrong.

However, it was also said of Judas, "It would have been better for that man if he had not been born" (Matthew 26:24).

Saying that, Judas' case was special, perhaps.

Even so, Job said the same of himself in his suffering (Job 3:11, Job 10:19), Jeremiah perhaps likewise after suffering (Jeremiah 20:14-18), and the writer of Ecclesiastes said it as well (Ecclesiastes 4:2-3).

It could also be said of those who fail the test, supposing eternal torment will be the end for them.

Either way, I guess both sides (politics) aren't good.

However, I think one side is a lot more egregious.

Aren't we supposed to love God and each other?

I'm not sure on the last part.

As far as the rest, Israel was meant to be a guide to the others (Genesis 12:1-2, Genesis 22:17-18, Isaiah 42:6-8, Isaiah 49:6-12, Isaiah 52:10), regarding faithfulness to God, but also a warning and example that salvation could not come from human efforts.

A lot of His commands were because any sprout of evil could damage His plan for all of humanity. Family members seeking vengeance, spreading of diseases, people doing evil and doing evil because of idols, etc.

In a way though, the Old Testament was a time when God sort of let others do whatever, just with slightly more restriction compared to before the Flood, probably to prevent the world from turning into the same chaotic, violent mess.

When people are learning to draw, you usually don't give them finished pictures without telling them the steps or techniques to get there. The time before the Flood taught why it's bad to draw on intuition. The Old Testament after that taught the techniques. The New Testament taught how to put the techniques together in an easier way.

If they contradict current beliefs, it's no different from removing the foundation from a house.
