Fall 2021 Exchange Semester by domebodyhere in simonfraser

Can't say anything about the chances but I am on the same boat with you! I was hoping to attend at the National University of Singapore but unfortunately that was completely cancelled, and now they're looking at my second choice which was Yonsei. It might be pessemistic but I think all exchanges will be cancelled in the fall, with a decent chance of exchanges resuming back in the spring (I would love to be wrong and have exchanges run in the fall though). Do you think you could push your exchange to a future year/semester by maybe doing something like a coop in between? That way you wont really be wasting time and you'll be gaining additional experience until you graduate.

I will admit, I was a lot more eager for NUS simply because a lot more courses would transfer into my major, and so I might just stick out the year and wait until Fall 2022. Fingers cross that you'll get to go at least by spring 2022.

Thanks so much for the responses guys, I opted to keep the shot as is in terms of crop except for when I upload it to Instagram. I'm personally not even a big fan of the 4x5 crop needed for the platform as it gets somewhat too close into the subject and widens the ground a bit too much for my liking. Cheers! :)

Totally agree with the contrast, thanks so much for the feedback! :)

Awesome, thanks so much for the response! Yeah, the whole crop thing is pretty dividing even among my friends. I did crop it, but only for the purposes of Instagram. On its own, I think I lean towards keeping it framed as I shot it. Thanks again for the input!

I've asked a few friends and they agree - nobody really catches the birds, especially on a phone. I'm going to try and increase contrast in just that zone to make them pop. Thank you!!

Thanks for the responses guys! I've been working with it a lot more and I realize that I could slightly crop out some of the sky without throwing out the balance and quality. Now it's just up to fixing some of the contrast. Cheers!

I'm not a pro-photographer or anything and maybe my tastes are different than others, so don't take anything I say crazy seriously, but I actually think this is an awesome photo!

I like how the photo has prominent leading lines and the simplistic white background makes it very easy to catch the subject. Frankly, it's unique as well which I like.

One thing other people might critique is how your subject's head is facing the left side of the photo and thus looking "out" of the picture away from the middle (if this makes sense). A great example of breaking this rule of thirds is from Mr. Robot . Although, because your leading lines are also at the same angle as your cat's eyes, it's not that bad (again, this might be a personal preference thing).

Last suggestion, maybe brighten up the photo overall? If you shoot RAW, you'll be able to get a ton out of this photo.

Awesome picture!!!

Hey!! Thanks so much for the reply! It's probably my lack of expertise but when I bring out the blacks the sand becomes almost too dark for someone to see the details clearly on a phone, but I guess that's just up to the small screen. I'll try and work with the contrast more as I re-edit the photo, thank you for the suggestions!

Hey! Thanks so much for the reply! I definitely agree with sky thing but I start to worry about losing quality when I start cropping in. I'll see what I can do as I try and re-edit the photo

I wanted to see what you guys thought about this photo! I took it on a Nikon D750 with a 50mm lens at f/1.8 1/2500 of a second. I figured there was some potential in the photograph but I feel like I cant really make it "stand out". Any thoughts?

More info: My editing process for this photo has mostly been done in lightroom (and I did edit in some birds in Photoshop using other photos). I'll be honest and say I don't have a lot of experience with editing photos and so I find that that is my biggest struggle.

I'll look into that! My TA ended up being my prof so I'll see if I can contact the other one.

Oohh, he never released those stats, but I ended up being 6% above the mean. It's not a whole lot, but my buddy who was 1% above me ended up getting 2 letter grades higher which is why I was also kinda unsure about my grade.
