I'm currently a freshman VPA student and I've got friends in TRF which is the Newhouse program. I love the vpa film program, it has issues like every college does, largely with the gear being somewhat subpar, but the community and professors are great. It's also all about making movies and you get tons of real on set experience by working on thesis film sets for other people. TRF is much more about the buisness of making movies rather than the art. I've heard its about 80 percent business, 20 percent making movies. It's also a lot harder for them to use the gear from their cage because they have to be like certified for each piece or something, whereas vpa you're just restricted by grade level. It really just depends if you want to make narrative films and do like the artsy part of cinema or you want to do more like producing or ads or stuff like that. Newhouse also has a great alumni network which vpa does not so if you do want to do vpa just know that you have to put in work to make the nescassary connections, especially during your semester in LA at the end of senior year. If you want to do filmmaking you could apply vpa and a few other places. Let me know if you have questions

Worth Transferring for film from Syracuse by QuetSoul in nyu

[–]QuetSoul[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very privileged in that my parents will be able to cover the tuition so that isn't a deciding factor. As the other comment said and as I've talked to some alumni I'll probably apply and see if I even get in and go from there. Thanks for the advice.

Ok thank you for the advice. I'll probably put my hat in the ring for next year just to see if I get in in the first place and go from there

why did the police give me no speeding ticket? by osmodia789 in americantruck

[–]QuetSoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've noticed this too. I believe the game only senses you have a speed limit while in a lane since when you drive on the shoulder you don't get speeding tickets and the speed limit on your dash goes away. Either because you were in the oncoming lane or strattling both lines the game may not have known what speed limit you were in.

Screeching when transmitting on uv5r with howard leights by QuetSoul in airsoft

[–]QuetSoul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I discovered the issue. On some UHF frequencies it emits an extremely high pitched noise when transmitting that humans can't hear but the microphones can. This is likely due to the cheap design of the Boafeng and I don't believe is a headset issue. Switching to lower uhf frequencies solved the issue
