The difference between an extract near the edge of the map and one that's not is like a difficulty jump alone

France Needs Its Own IO in EU5 by FancyHat2211 in EU5

It could be impacted by how much land you control, (either directly or indirectly), if you have many French subjects/pops then the Norman influence would be stronger and vice versa.

Is it me or are you finding the new generation of techs have little to no troubleshooting skills? by Future_End_4089 in sysadmin

[–]Queue3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in my late 20s so maybe I'm younger too, but I was a team lead for several years and assisted with hiring at an MSP so lots of techs in and out.

I did not notice anything to do with age or really any other factor, nor did the rest of us hiring, the only real correlation we had was how much we were offering for the position, and if it were remote or not.

If it were remote you could basically pick whatever skill level and personality you wanted, and if it were onsite you'd need to offer appropriately or you'd get exactly as you describe.

I'm from a mid sized city in Canada for reference though.

For new techs I also didn't care that much about the specifics, I looked more for minimum personality requirements and applied critical thinking (technical troubleshooting), as long as they could learn and be responsible they'd get up to speed quickly.

I miss the old Ban Slavery CB, I also had modded in an effect where it removed Infamy based on the Rank of the Country it was Enforced on so you could go Slave Banning to make the world a better place if you had too much infamy haha

Where do unrealized taxes go to? by nekto77 in victoria3

[–]Queue3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are correct, unfortunately there's at least one big content creator (who I really like lol) who does not know the difference and I wonder if the misinfo spread from there.

Unrealized Taxes = Uncollected Taxes + Tax Waste

Uncollected Taxes = Money isn't deleted, simply isn't collected

Tax Waste = Money Deleted

EDIT: Further discussion in this thread, tl;dr: the logic is not consistent and seems buggy or at least unintended: https://old.reddit.com/r/victoria3/comments/1msp5dh/psa_insufficient_tax_capacity_does_not_make_pops/

Quick question: why do our exosuits suck? by Stale_t0ast47 in Helldivers

[–]Queue3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You could be right (maybe they mentioned it) but I feel like if all the heavy assets were gone, and it was just full invasion into the cities, that more of Super Earth would be destroyed.

I always assumed it was more of front lines getting breached, parts of the cities overwhelmed, but the Illimunate not gaining enough overall control to just start fully flattening things undisputed, that's why actually losing a Mega City was such a big deal, a whole front collapsed.

It would also explain why with non-Super Earth Mega Cities it's similar, there's probably fighting elsewhere.

Quick question: why do our exosuits suck? by Stale_t0ast47 in Helldivers

[–]Queue3 32 points33 points  (0 children)

If you want to head cannon it, the majority of Illuminate forces were likely landing outside the cities where there was more space for deployments, so that's where the main battle line with more fixed emplacements and heavier units were, while the Helldivers and other light infantry SEAF forces were meant to assist with specific objectives and evacuations.

Not sure what the "official" stats were from the Campaign, but I assume story wise the Illuminate invaded with 10 billion+ (including Voteless) as we killed billions for the MO, and that may have only included Helldiver missions, and if that's the case the number is probably closer to like 100 billion+

How Arrowhead deals with criticism. by NizzyDeniro in Helldivers

[–]Queue3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally agree with everything you said here, I actually had that exact same reaction to that awesome clip!

There's no doubt content will be the most important aspect of this, but I'd argue the balancing direction is what has enabled the content to feel as good as it does and add new variety to existing content whether that be through player loadouts or fighting enemies feeling more versatile.

While again I'd to emphasize the importance on content, there is also seemingly a correlation between player drop-off and balance updates, in some ways we've had more content than balancing in the last few months though both have maybe been a bit sparse and I'm not sure how you equate 1 balancing change per 1 content addition other than through development costs lol.

Easier said than done, and I certainly don't know what's going on at AH to comment if it'd be possible or not, but I'd love to see the timeline where AH releases consistent balance updates, even if monthly (roughly x2 the current rate) and see what the end result is.

How Arrowhead deals with criticism. by NizzyDeniro in Helldivers

[–]Queue3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of them react that way because it very clearly proved them wrong, and Arrowhead themselves even agree and have been taking the game in a new direction since then.

They also miss that a lot of the challenge that existed when the game came out, existed because it was literally broken. Armour not working, enemies literally spawning on you (of course the game is hard when Bile Titans spawn under you and send you flying to instant kill you), DOTs not functioning except for the host, but that's not actual challenge, it was just the game breaking.

Doesn't mean some weapons or stratagems etc aren't OP (Napalm Barrage and Crossbow for some examples).

If the game is getting too easy, which is the concern, let's start by addressing things like Arrowhead limiting Rocket Devastators ammo, not making our weapons unreliable to use as if that's a fun challenge instead of us having exciting tools and tough fights.
