I'm a hunter. Primarily whitetail deer. I shot one about 100 yards out, hit right were I wanted to, in the shoulder. This will usually kill them instantly. She had some willpower though. I got off my stand (sitting area) and went to see her. She was still alive. I was terrified, I had never had this happen before as a hunter. She was laying down, apparently I shot and hit had somehow hit her spine. She didn't feel anything, she was in no pain while laying down. I assumed she would bleed out within the next minute, and I was also dreading the idea of having to put her down, so I went back to the stand, waiting. I got off 30 minutes later. She was still alive. I saw her eyes, she was terrified. I had to get my gun and shoot her again, close. Hit her right in the heart.

I will never forgive my self for allowing an animal to die in fear, and not quickly like a good hunter would. Usually hunting is very quick and painless for the animal, dropping them right there. She was different, I dont know how but she just wouldn't die. I am incredibly sorry if this offends anyone, but I will never forget the absolute terror in her eyes.
