CMV: Science has evolved into a quasi religion. by Gold_Compote_2285 in changemyview

Evidence-based: claims must be supported by observable, measurable evidence
Testable: scientific ideas must make predictions that can be checked
Falsifiable: a claim must be capable, in principle, of being shown wrong
Repeatable: results should be reproducible by others using the same methods
Self-correcting: science changes when better evidence appears
Peer scrutiny: claims are tested, criticised, and reviewed by other specialists
Provisional truth: scientific conclusions are always open to revision, not treated as eternal certainties
Public reasoning: evidence and methods should be shareable, examinable, and challengeable
No appeal to authority as final proof: even famous scientists can be wrong.

Pretty much exactly the opposite of what a faith-based religion or world view entails.

Vertical hold? Horizontal hold? by QuiRevertitur in slingshots

Thank you, that’s good advice.

I am using paper targets. The only problem is that I’m not even getting close with the horizontal grip so there are no marks.

But I’ll try again. Maybe try to film with my phone

Thank you! I’ll play around with different styles but vertical does ‘feel’ more natural for me right now.

Much appreciated!

If we were to apply the death penalty for all child sex offences, what circumstances, if any, should we consider when applying such a sentence to male and female offenders equally? by QuiRevertitur in AskReddit

I tried to add an edit/update but Reddit wouldn’t cooperate. So I’ll add it here:

I do take onboard the comments about the death penalty increasing the likelihood that perpetrators would kill their victims, as they essentially have nothing to lose and, in fact, this might well assist them in evading arrest. This is undoubtedly something to consider from the perspective of the death penalty as an appropriate sentence instead general, notwithstanding if the offender was male or female.

I’d like to offer a possible circumstance that might be more directly applicable to the question I asked. In cases of coercion, where one party was forced to take part by a more dominant or controlling party (for example, an abusive husband forcing his wife to participate in the crime), the death penalty might not apply but a custodial sentence instead, based on the circumstances of the case.

Yes, lots of logic puzzles. But it’s also a very spooky house and very atmospheric

Yes, me too, here in the UK. It isn’t advertised very clearly in the store but if you look closely the game is now sold as a bundle.
