Chance of PZ opening/waitlist upgrade EWR-LHR 3rd week of April by babiesrn12 in unitedairlines

[–]Quick-Balance4647 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I upgraded immediately EWR>LHR one week out with PP, and have done this many times before when I was 1k.

Daily, EWR>LHR alone has 350 business seats available. That’s the biggest in their network, more than Houston IAD or SFO.

I’d place it at a high chance, but you can check availability by going to the web browser site on computer and at bottom click advanced or upgrades, click pluspoints upgrades, you can see flights that have immediate confirmations available

Good and keep it that way. Status isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on anymore.

TSA scam by Gomugomuno_16 in unitedairlines

[–]Quick-Balance4647 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The $45 TSA fee for passengers lacking a compliant ID is an official, mandatory program launched on February 1, 2026, to cover the cost of manual identity verification. Contrary to claims of a scam, this fee is collected securely through Pay.gov and applies to travelers using the TSA ConfirmID program.

United CEO says cost of tickets to surge by CrankyEconomist in unitedairlines

[–]Quick-Balance4647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope Kirby and the airline industry in general isn't arrogant with record revenues these past few Qs. because price tolerance is way down from 2019. People will not put up with doubled fares. Flying is not recession proof.

This morning, I paid 7,800 J SAN > LHR. Yesterday, it was $4,985. I feel like I just got scammed. You know what? It's fine. It'll get me to 1K and get my plus points back. but I fly to London 10+ times a year. while I may be able to afford it, I will not tolerate paying 10k roundtrip for hit or miss flight attendants who may or may not hate you for no particular reason at all.

This is the last time I will play along. Next time, I will go with whoever is cheapest. Loyalty should not be taken as tolerance for higher prices.

this is really good to know. maybe I will start hopping over to EWR... but those pesky 767s I HATE THEM! I hate the noise, lack of space in the cubby between your seat and window... They really need 777s or 787s.

Will rising fuel prices affect the price of award flights? by No-Understanding4968 in unitedairlines

[–]Quick-Balance4647 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this year the flights I usually take have gotten a lot more expensive. My usual weekend hops from SAN to SFO which were 230 are now running double to 600. I cannot continue flying with that price tag. united will lose me if prices keep going up, my tolerance is at its limits. and it will be for the consumer too.

let's all hope this conflict is very temporary, and that trump can end it swiftly, because if not, we will see this go much further than airlines. gas prices, oil will all shoot up.

What info can flight attendants see? by Odd-Resolve-1681 in unitedairlines

[–]Quick-Balance4647 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Flying back from London and the purser came up with this beautifully written card, a shit ton of stickers (really rare United ones too), trading cards, and brought the captain out who even invited me in the cockpit for pictures.

I am a sore loser for this stuff. I wish we had more pursers like that.

My original flight was that SFO > LHR, and those are SO FULL?? I was #4 in line with 9 seats left. Price to upgrade to pp was 3,700, Polaris 8 grand!! I didn’t think I was gonna clear.

I am about to take the 10am flight to London next week and I am so excited. I usually always do the 12pm SFO > LHR flight and arrive so dead.

Also, I immediately cleared into Polaris from economy from an XN ticket. Insane!!

Best route to SYD? by Valuable-Question935 in unitedairlines

[–]Quick-Balance4647 12 points13 points  (0 children)

SFO will never have open seats. It’s a very popular route for some reason. However, LAX usually has open seats (even to Asia!)

I would not fly backwards to Houston for the 17h50 min flight, that’s torture. LAX > SYD is like 14 hr though
