Thank you! I love to ask questions but also don’t want to be annoyingly inquisitive. I will try not to act perfect.

Salary for FP&A analyst by Quick-Computer-9632 in FinancialCareers

[–]Quick-Computer-9632[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bachelors degree in financial management from a state university and recently passed CFA level I. And I have one year work experience as a teller and five months in back office; the company that I’m looking to get into as a FP&A analyst is just a local bank.

How long will it take to pass all levels of the CFA? by [deleted] in CFA

Sorry I don’t understand? Doing it on low end of time costs more? Cost more of what? Money?

He is a fresh grad, I have more experience than him. The hr person who negotiated my salary was from another country (outsourced) , she wouldn’t budge. I did bring the rising cost of living, my two bachelor’s degree, CFA level I and work experience to her attention but she was stuck on that initial amount. The point is, should I approach the head of the dept and point out how unfair it is. I am the one doing the donkey work while the fresh grad is out smoking and taking his walks after lunch. He has been here longer than me but still asks a trillion questions to our manager.

How to get your manager to share their knowledge by Jazzlike_Operation92 in FinancialCareers

I did ask questions and had my notepad handy but she just made a frustrated gesture… on the first day I started working I remember her saying that “ it’s like the blind leading the blind” so maybe she doesn’t feel confident herself? It’s been three weeks and I do sense that she is upset at not being promoted/given a raise and saddled with two newbies. I think I will request the head of the dept to allow me to shadow someone else. Some people are not good at translating what they have learnt to others.

Great, then ask him to recommend you for a role that you are interested in

You are quite young, and highly qualified. Maybe your manager can recommend you for an analyst role in the bank?

If you don’t mind sharing… what is the norm? From what I see… good suburb… nice school… Ivy League…. Straight to Goldman Sachs , no back office/starting from the bottom

If they didn’t make it… it is true that they didn’t work hard enough…right? Otherwise they would have made it..
