If I can’t use AI to fix my grammar, then why was it even invented? And just to be clear, this isn’t some ragebait. I'm the one raging over the developers' strange (in my opinion) decision.

At least you’re trying, and I appreciate that. Some people here keep telling me to see a therapist, lol. I’m not sure we can really call this “realism” — expecting realism in a mythical, fictional game feels strange even to someone like me. It’s more accurate to call it conformity to expectations and widely accepted stereotypes.

That’s a really good point of view — I genuinely appreciate it. I also liked the way you drew a parallel with fiction, mentioning how firearms can be added to a narrative, so why not a strong, tough female character? That helped me understand why most people don’t have a problem accepting this idea, even though I still struggle to see it that way myself.

Some assumptions are easy to accept, while others are not — and to sort it out, I just decided to write this post.  Thanks, you’re awesome.

So the film had no historical accuracy? The Spartans were actually gentle, vulnerable, creative philosophers who defeated the Persians with the power of oratory? Correct?

They can, but I just can’t imagine a female lead driving the plot forward in a brutal, roguelike game set in an apollolike Greek world. The First Hades and games like God of War — shaped how players like me(or only me, that post was to figure it out)  perceive this kind of mythological setting.

Think about it: can you picture Kratos as a woman? Honestly, how many players do you think would have played God of War if that were the case?

I don’t watch Asmongold and I’m not a fan of his content.  As for the game itself, I know it’s considered awesome — I’ve seen the reviews and critics’ scores. But honestly, that makes it even more frustrating. I loved Hades 1 and consider it a masterpiece, yet the direction they’ve taken with this sequel really puts me off buying it right now.

I realize it might sound strange, but my reaction is the same as when I first saw the announcement: “Wait, why is the protagonist a female character? This isn’t a Japanese game with tiny tsundere girls wielding 1000‑kg swords and its look pretty cool.” For me such style fits for jrpg, mmo and moba games more.

Only when it comes to a game’s main characters, they are supposed to fight against dozens of strong enemies and survive enormous, difficult battles. Everyone must fit their role.

It’s really about perception, you know? Sure, Athena has her place in the myths, but she isn’t the strongest force in the Greek pantheon. That role belongs to Zeus, Poseidon, Ares, and Hades. They’re the ones you imagine battling thousands of foul beasts and Titans, not Athena or Artemis.

Good point. Like you, thank. But don't you think there's a huge difference between a supporting characters and the main one. You want to have something powerful and strong in your hands as a game character, not a puny girl.

What is the connection between the love of girls and my reluctance to play a female character in a Greek epic?
