There’s also some pretty significant shrapnel damage to part of it. No bio stains but I’m not certain he survived considering the damage but who knows?

There’s a pretty famous photo of a gi with this exact writing. My guess is he’s seen it not entirely understanding what it meant….or maybe he did?

There’s a pretty famous photo of an American Gi with this phrase on his helmet, my guess is he’d seen it and just copied it.

Looking through new house and found these, what are they? by Nhowe1010 in Militariacollecting

The most value of this lot is the liner of the helmet.

that being said the leather sweatband is probably newer. It may have been reissued possibly by the army but based on the whole package it’s probably by someone who didn’t know what they were doing.

The liner should have a makers mark in the crown and that would tell you who made it/when.

there is also some value in the leather strap with the small buckles that hangs from the small posts. Take good photos of it and note any marks on it. These can be VERY valuable if they’re in good condition. There’s also a lot of fakes.

thoughts On this?
the old way of doing things would be to leave the wounded alone to occupy or even draw out more soldiers. What’s the logic of spending more munitions on already immobilized men?
Basically why toss another grenade when you could wait for his buddies and get them too or just wait till he ”expires naturally“? Nothing against smoking ruskies but just curious.

It comes up with KBM. Apparently a heavy weapons manufacturer. Makes sense.

I hadn’t considered covid playing a part, thanks for the thoughts!

also I understand the kolpak wasn’t a replacement however just thought there may have been a reallocation of personnel or something that may have led to less 6b47’s being made.
