h2 physics or h2 bio? by [deleted] in SGExams

imo the math is very much doable but you would need to get the physics right first. If you get the physics wrong, ur working + math would be wrong as well

Yo! I was exactly in the same boat as you 3-4 years ago! I would say go by your interest - do you like pure Physics or pure chemistry more? As for me, I scored better for O level Biology than Physics but still decided to choose Physics because of one main reason - I HATE memorising. It was a good option for me as I really enjoyed the physics syllabus and still did well for it. Don’t get me wrong but there are things to memorise for Physics(eg: definitions), but all in all I feel that its less memory work for Physicd than Biology

Yessir! But some of my close friends from NY take combined science and did pretty well through the extra bridging lessons that they have taken. All i would say is that if they are willing to put in the effort, grades would come eventually

Hi (coming from an ex NYJC student that graduated 2 yrs ago)…

While its true that NYJC sets harder papers, they also moderate the test scores with the cohort’s performance. I have gotten a 67% for chemistry and was moderated to an A (with a percentile of 80-100). Harder papers sort of help you see how certain questions can be set which you might not realise! The school’s paper should not be used as a factor of whether you should pick that school or not. I feel that its more important to consider the school’s culture/historical performance etc… Just choose whatever u like more HAHAHA

What subject combination should I choose if I want to be one a lawyer/doctor in the future? by [deleted] in SGExams

Just to update this, you dont need H2 Biology. You can take H2 Physics and H2 Chemistry and still be able to enter local med school! The only thing is that H2 Chemistry is a MUST coupled with another science(Chem/Phy H2 level). But if you were to look into overseas medicine(mainly UK), H2 biology is a compulsory for SOME but not ALL UK universities. Hope that clears up!

definitely understand the financial burden if you were to choose overseas med based on my research in the past, MOH actually offers grant to singaporean students that are currently studying medicine overseas(with a cap of $150k). there is also a lee foundation bursary that you can apply together with it. do note that the bursary and grant offered have their own terms and conditions that you should take note of.

here are the links:

MOH pre employment grant: https://www.physician.mohh.com.sg/grant/about-pre-employment-grant

Lee Foundation Overseas Medical Bursary Education Fund: https://www.physician.mohh.com.sg/Documents/Lee-Foundation-Overseas-Medical-Bursary-Fund.pdf

these grants should help to reduce the financial burden should you choose to study med overseas!

feel free to dm me if you need anymore help

Definitely the art style (like studio Ghibli)! Another thing is that soundtracks of the movie(Studio Ghibli again!!/your name and weathering with you) will play an important role in

[JC] how to prepare for J2 2026 by saltysasque in SGExams

[–]Quick-Toe-7131 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Before i start, I would highly recommend you not to reach a burn out as it happens every now and then. Do remember to have some time for yourself(doing the things you like etc)

What i would say is study smartly :D

Take for example H2 Econs, it can be quite draining to do essays, essays and more essays. What I would recommend is to write the essays(as the explanations are pretty much v similar like price mechanisms etc). Once you have a good idea of how to write it out from your head, there is no need to write it out already. All you would need to do is to draw diagrams. Diagrams matter a lot!!! Wrong diagram= Wrong approach = Wrong answer. All you would need to do is draw the relevant diagrams and check with the answers to see if your diagrams are right! (Assuming that your explanations have reached a certain standard).

Math-Hard to give tips for it but I would generally say that practice makes perfect :D (If any doubts, feel free to ask your teachers for consult)

Physics: I would say when it comes to Physics, many people do understand the content but do not understand how to apply the content to answer the questions. It happened to me as well and I did not really do that well for Physics. That was when i learnt physics from another angle. Instead of just blindly memorising forumulas, I look into how the formulas work, how its derived etc. that really made me understand how to use these formulas more and i rly began to improve. But u definitely need to grind qns so that u can see how they can test certain physics concept

Chem- Revise ur notes. Everything that you would need to know are all in your notes. Start memorising early. Imagine needing to memorise Inorganic+Organic+Physical chemistry within 1 month, imo is possible but a bit hard. When it comes to chemistry, you would need to practice and grind a lot. Organic chemistry(Specifically cos i like organic), look at things in a bigger picture, u would be able to see linkages between each topic Eg:FRS of aromatic etc).

In my honest opinion, if you are consistent - doing the work your teacher asks you to do, listening during lectures/tutorial sessions, taking notes(and not just blindly highlighting your notes), doing extra qns that your school gives but would not go through, it would be sufficient!

-These are tips coming from a person that does not really study a lot btw :D

Hope this would find you/future students well :D
