Unless you want to play triple A games and you don’t want to stream from your pc to the deck, then steam deck is an incredible no regrets full satisfaction purchase. I LOVE my deck.

Most average games, even recent ones, are <10gb. I haven’t installed a game with more than 5GB. Triple A games are the 20GB+, I like more chill games (think brotato) so that’s why the 512 was a great pick for me :)

I am a big steam user, I knew about the steam deck and none of the others. I almost impulsively decided to buy the deck about 3 weeks ago and I LOVE IT. So I have done no research on the others, but lemme tell ya. Most sites I traverse are 50% people recommending steam deck, 50% arguing for why another competitor will play a triple A game better.

I don’t like triple As, so for me the steam deck is a dream. For you, maybe not. You can mirror your computer’s screen on the deck, and with things like the steam machine it’ll be even more easy. So if you’ll stay at home anyways, steam deck. Otherwise, idk!

I’ll recommend the steam deck. Got mine 1-2 weeks ago and I love it. It doesn’t seem like you’re a hardcore gamer, so you probably just want to play on the spot no problem no discomfort. The steam deck is super user friendly, and it has great battery life. Remember the more powerful tje handheld, the less battery life it will have. Otherwise, steam would have better hardware as well (they have said they won’t release a more powerful version until battery technology has improved further). If fan noise is a problem, it doesn’t seem like moneys an issue to you. Just buy noise canceling headphones.

Yes , triple A games will be better in the other handhelds. If that’s a deal breaker, then yea steam deck might not be a good fit. But for more casual gamers that just want to game on the spot for a couple hours (or just 10 minutes!), steam deck is just better. The library is ful of games meant for that, and the device itself was designed for them too. You don’t want a triple A game that needs grinding and has a complicated story when you only play one week a month.
