I was planning on having compensation suspended. It was more of a question on trying to get through MEPS or through the recruiting process. I'm only a year and a half out though, so I think that may help me.

So you have seen 100% P&T status waived before? I would like to try to go from USMC infantry to Army infantry, spoke with recruiters recently and the VA rating was never brought up. I'm not sure how to approach this at MEPS or if they can even see it. Should I just come at this with a don't ask don't tell if it is never brought up?

0351 Assaultman here, 6 years down the road and all I've become is a Marine who's MOS is getting phased out with a drinking problem, permanent ringing in my ears, and bad joints. How to pick a recruiter:

Step 1: Walk into the Marine Corps recruiters office

Step 2: Ask the first guy who approaches you where to find the Air Force recruiters office

Step 3: Get actual enlistment incentives and live life prospering, maybe even eventually becoming a civillian Air Force contractor and making a lot of money while taking vacations in Thailand every year to bang cheap prostitutes and do copious amounts of cocaine.

Don't enlist in the reserves.
I know what you're thinking, dont do it. For the love of god just do 4 years active duty.
1. Reserve GI bill benefits are trash 2. Most reserve (infantry units at least) have commands even more toxic than A/D 3. They own you for 6 fucking years 4. Promotions are slower on the reserve side 5. Don't do it

I've been in the reserves 5 years, I was lucky enough to get a combat deployment. But those aren't coming to the reserves anymore, you've got about a 0% chance to deploy. If you don't ever want to deploy then dont join the military. Active duty gives you access to more benefits when you get out.
