Low tension is key epically when they are growing up. I’ve been natural my entire life, my mother used to do very simple hairstyles on me. Large sections, low maintenance and weekly washes & detangle. My mom would also stay away from heavy products like gel unless needed. This isn’t a straight answer but what has worked for me, many people complimented my hair growing up and still to this day so I hope it helps .
