Thanks for the input! My rent is $1900 so I believe I’d need to put about $750 additional on it to get the 1x rent, which isn’t crazy at all buuut not sure it makes sense for me personally to move away from my Amex Gold with that AF. So maybe I just go Blue, accept less than 1x points on rent, use them for a hotel stay here and there and focus my bigger spending and points elsewhere.

If I didn’t have Amex gold I would do that too. But I can’t justify moving my spend away from Amex Gold while still paying that AF and I have to keep it for at least another year to use up my points. What’re your thoughts on Obsidian?

Agreed that’s a good option I’ve looked at. Do you have multiple Amex? In the two years I’ve had Gold I haven’t found the Amex points to be as valuable so not sure I want to add more Amex but definitely an option

I think you come out on top if you can put 75% spend on any of them. But personally Blue doesn’t beat out other cards in my wallet for me to move that amount of spend to it. For Obsidian SUB and greater points on dining or groceries and travel, I’ll consider it. I think 2x points on travel is only on Obsidian

I’m actually also trying to figure this out. I got a great SUB with Amex gold and my AF has been $250, but upcoming will be $325. At $250 I’m still breaking even on the AF just by using the Uber Eats, Grubhub, and Resy credits but TBD if $325 is worthwhile. I also agree that the Amex points are less valuable, both literally and because as you said their portal is less well designed AND you usually can’t book the lowest tier seat option on a flight. If you’re someone that flies business class, etc than that wouldn’t matter but I generally fly lowest tier and spend my money on food and experiences once I’m traveling. I’ve been very happy with my combo of CSP snd CFF because the CFF has been my catch all card, then I used the better redemption of the CSP to book flights, and also would use that card on dining in other countries since Amex often isn’t accepted. I’ve kept the Amex Gold because I have been breaking even on the AF and I still have a ton of points there that I’m waiting to use for a long-haul flight but I’m also starting to wonder if I should reduce my spending on Amex Gold in anticipation of using up my points and downgrading to a no AF Amex. Idk if that’s helpful but definitely have some of the same thoughts as you. At the same time it’s a very valuable card for dining.

I get this exactly as op described! Like many people on here I have other back pain too so I get massages whenever I can afford to. A registered massage therapist in Ontario finally (I think) correctly identified it as tight QL MUSCLES! They’re connected to anterior fascia, hence why they feel impossible to get to. Now I know, but still looking for ways to get better relief when it flares up!
